British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Sorry, I probably didn’t word that well.

What I meant was I think Scotland would be justified in having a second indi ref if the U.K. is no longer part of the Eu as it is a big change.

The problem as I see it with referendums is that they are not legally binding so open to argument after the fact ( rightly or wrongly)

I think the advantage of referendums is the electorate seem to take more notice than at a GE.

  2. Wrong as usual. The SNP did accept the result and work cooperated with the post referendum constitutional commissions

The SNP/Greens/Pro Indy electorate moved to campaign for another referendum when the promises made to Scotland to vote NO were reneged on. Even my former Tory voting Dad now votes SNP and will vote for Indy.

Another would be JK Rowling who actively campaigned for Better Together and now believes there should be another referendum.

People who deny the facts are always in for a rude awakening- one way or another

  3. Me personally? No

Let's have some honesty first. The snp would seek another indi vote if they lost a second one too. In indi one they placed a caveat in it that was so vague it effectively come down to, even if we lose and the Scottish people said stay in the uk, we will ignore them and try again. All the polls they go on about support for indi 2, almost all will be paid people and no more than 2,000 people but on average 1,203. They have no direct mandate for indi 2.

As to referendums, in the U.K as was indi 1 and brexit, they are not legally obliged to be acted upon UNLESS it is announced before the vote and during the campaigning that they will be acted upon. In both referendums it was declared in the correct and legal way that both results would be legally accepted as the voters direction.

Now, unless we start respecting the result instead of trying to wriggle out of them by the losing side, then the U.K. would not be in a position to decide things by referendum.

  4. Tosh, saying I accept the result but....Is not accepting the vote.

I've read the indi policy booklet released, boy have they

  9. They don't want indi, they are like pakistan. Taking money from the west to keep osama out whilst taking money from osama to pretend he isn't there.

question, as much as being made about farmers and brexit, if for some reason we didn't leave, our farming, poultry and beef industries would be in deep shit trouble due to the eu's agreement with the south american consortium. How do remainers feel about that?

  10. Will it affect the price of BMW cars and Data Roaming ?

“I do think it pretty monstrous that you get free care for the elderly in Scotland and no tuition fees when you still get considerable subsidies from the rest of the UK”

@BorisJohnson in 2009 on Scottish funding settlement - which his team say will “not change” if he’s PM

Well put you money where you mouth is @BorisJohnson. Grant Scotland a section 30 order and we'll be out of you subsidising hair tout suit.
    .
what he means here, is, he thinks its pretty monstrous that he cant hang on to more of our tax take, while cutting funding and investment in public services he and his have for everybody outwith london and the south east.

  13. dude, glen campbell is a singer

  14. and a bbc misreporting scotland jurno.
but saying that, he did grill cunt during hustings last week over mandates. so, on that occasion, fair play.

  15. Why not?

    It’s the same for Brexit,no?

  16. I think you suffer from a difficulty concerning temporal displacement. Most of us deal with it comfortably. It’s called life. Things change over time. When they do, people change their mind.

For example, I WAS a remainer. But since the U.K. voted to leave, I changed my mind and now I think we should leave. Understand?

So the YES movement lost the 2014 referendum and then all the promises that were made were broken and so they decided that they should campaign for independence again.

Does that help explain it to you? Understand yet?

  17. Home much are these people being paid?

Almost everyone I know has a very well paid job so it must be millions of pounds they are getting paid, considering they are apparently headed for economic Armageddon.

Time to repeat what I said pre 2014. I would happily be £1000 a year worse off than now and not have Boris as PM and to be able to “Take Back Control” and “control our own borders” To stop low grade crap food coming in from an rUK which adopted American rather than European food standards

  18. noobie, you are being lectured on the passage of time ... by a Wildling, no less.

Time for you to hang up your keyboard.
