British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Yes it would, that's the whole reason for leaving :yum

  2. If I was to take a wild guess, that has more to do with migrants stopping vehicles so they can jump in them than anything else

  3. 37% of the electorate voted to Leave (but without a specific plan or final form of Brexit in mind).
    36% voted to Remain.
    27% didn’t vote.

Is that a sufficient majority in an “Advisory Referendum” to take the most economically damaging course of action available?

Democracy has been damaged, by a poorly planned (and even more poorly executed) attempt to settle a long-running Tory Party internal dispute.

Ten years ago, nobody was desperate to Leave the EU, and we would agonise over a quarter percent cut in interest rates, trying to work out how it might affect the economy.

Economics hasn’t changed. Why are we now happy to take a chance on such a hugely disruptive policy? It’s like we’ve become obsessed or something

  4. Would that be to leave the UK or get to the UK? Just asking for a friend coz Brexit is gonna be sooo bad I can’t imagine any of them wanting to go there.

  5. Unfortunately, the 27% that didn’t vote, don’t count. They had the option to vote in what was/is probably the biggest event that will affect their lives yet chose not to. Of those that did vote the majority, perhaps to everyone’s surprise (mine included) voted to leave. That choice, of the people, should have been upheld.
This I agree with, all to save the Tory party. However, the people, when given the choice, chose to leave.
There have been moanings and grumblings about the EU for decades, the difference is the proletariat were never given a say until 2016 and then, to the surprise of the Patricians they voted out. Sometimes democracy can bite you.

Sometimes the status quo isn’t always the best policy, the easiest yes as no-one likes change, or even worse, change with uncertainty, but nobody, neither Brexiteers or Remainers know for certain how things will pan out. It’s for us all to make the best of it when (if) it eventually happens.

  6. As usual you are talking bolloxs. we had a vote, those entitled to vote either did or didn't but from those that did, we were given a result, as with every single of peoples vote in the U.K.

More bolloxs, advisory referendums are advisory UNLESS it is declared at the time of announcement that they will be acted upon, which this was and many times over . 3:50-4:00

Democracy has been damaged because mp's have spent 3 years trying to stop a peoples majority democratic vote and little more

Incorrect, some have been waiting 40 years after being lied too by being told the eu would only ever be a trading organisation, similar to the wto but a european version

Because the peoples democratic majority vote, something that was asked for and we were told would be respected, has asked to leave, something the eu gives every member the right to do so if a democratic majority peoples vote asks for it

  7. Of course I get the point that those who didn’t vote don’t count. But the numbers do put into perspective the mandate for the course of action.

And more importantly, that slim majority does not equate to a mandate for a No Deal exit, which was not on the ballot paper.

Perhaps we should now have a vote on the specific available options. That would re-establish any appropriate mandate for No Deal, May’s Deal or Remain.

I know exactly what the No Dealers’ answer to that will be of course...

  8. :D, true, there are no brits jumping in the back of lorries to escape to the eu

  9. Split the leave vote - now that would be democratic :joy: there was no deal on the ballot paper :eyes:

  10. Rubbish, in the U.K. votes as small as 2 votes can decide an mp and has. The vote was the same as any other, the result at the end decides if it is the majority and then the result. If you now want a minimum for any vote, I bet you it will not pass parliament because so many mp's are elected by incredibly tight majorities.
as to no deal/ what deal the vote was leave, only one option matches that, everything else is a version of remain

It wasn't a best of three option :D

  11. That sums up exactly how crazy Leave-fundamentalists have become... :upyeah:

I’ll remind you that the Leave Campaign promised the electorate “a very good deal”, a “negotiated settlement” and various other things such as staying in the Single Market.

So it was all done under false pretences?

  12. Nope, the remailer MP's and you lot fooked that up well and truly :worried: and the fact that they got the EU to write a deal they were happy with

  13. I think you forget the prelude to the vote when cameron said he was going to the eu to negotiate a special status for the U.K. in the hope it would throw the vote to stay in the eu, and the eu commission basically told him to fuck off.

How can you be a crazy leave fundamentalist if your own government understands it was a 40 year question that needed an answer, they and all sides of the house majority agreed to the vote, majority agreed to the question on the ballot paper, all said they would respect the outcome of a peoples democratic vote, even agreed afterwards to launch article 50 annnddd ran with respecting and enabling the brexit votes direction in their 2017 manifesto's ?

How on earth is that fundamentalism? your heads messed up bro :D

This is what a fundamentalist looks like

    These are NOT fundamentalists

  14. Sourced from FB? What does it matter if the video is genuine? You are trying to use the same nonsense aimed at Le Pen:instead of accepting that a certain religion throws homosexuals to their death off tall buildings, your racist politicians attacked her for bringing the evidence to public attention.
"Shooting the messenger",favoured by frustrated dictators for centuries.
As it happens this is an example of what happens regularly on the A16 near Calais. My own vehicles are regularly delayed by such incidents travelling to and from the ferry. And in February 2016 at around 22.00 on a Sunday evening,3 of us returning to the UK on bikes were targeted by missile throwers on the approach to Calais port.
This is a result of EU open borders / socialist thinking and the vast majority of people would not want it happening in their country. You really should take a look at the videos of terrified Calais residents pleading with authorities to do SOMETHING about this lind of behaviour.
Denying it is happening might make you feel comfortable but doesn’t make it go away.
Extreme socialism has been the fuel that feeds extreme conservatism,(if such a thing exists).
The violent bullying of law-abiding and moderate citizens , forcing them to accept policies that disadvantage themselves is called dictatorship, and world wars have been fought to end dictatorships
To paraphrase:” the faux-liberal socialists have sown the wind, now they will reap the whirlwind”.
The reason you scream,”far right”,at every remotely conservative policy is because you have moved so far to the left.Because the distance between you and the centre has grown, you are seeing everything as “far”.
The centre/conservatism/moderation has not moved, the left has become more extreme.
Show me the right wing version of Antifa being encouraged by the authorities to attack,”liberals”,show me the right-wing ghettos where the police will not venture, show me the angry mobs of right-wing activists turning up to left-wing demonstrations to commit violence and cause disruption, show me the right-wing campaigns to stifle free speech,in fact show me ANYTHING that compares to the violent, racist, mindless thuggery employed by the left to IMPOSE their dogma on unwilling populations, and I will show you many examples of “leftists”,screaming manically in the faces of peaceful demonstrators,Antifa scum acting like Nazi Brownshirts, unprovoked gang attacks on innocent people, not to mention the criminal results of far left thinking, the gang rapes/murders/fires/terrorist attacks/unjustified imprisonments etc etc etc.
Wake up and smell the coffee friend, before a man with a toothbrush moustache and shiny jackboots gets elected to stamp on your choice of madness.
He called himself a socialist too by the way.

  15. I think this has been done to death, but

Would a second referendum solve anything ?
If the result was remain, there would be cries of 1-1 are we having a decider ?
If it was leave with no- deal would it then be accepted, I doubt it. Politicians and big business owners are the ones that seem determined to make sure we don’t leave and are probably in the best positions to stop it.

    Edit.
I think we should anyway, I love a referendum.

  16. Its fear mongering. Nothing more, nothing less.
Leaving the EU will not change the Calais situation. Non EU passport holders will continue to try for a new life in a country with a better economy and living standards. Stabilising and not undermining their economies through war and sanctions would help. Im sure that is a common sense idea and not a yoghurt knitting, sandal wearing, socialist view.

Incase it has gone unobserved, there is a UK border control in place.

This has not made a difference to ROW immigration though, its linked to government policy.

Interesting when you find the fb link to the guy who posted the video and follow the source back and also read the comments. Thats if you are prepared to look a bit deeper.

Some nice^^^ nice comments from the poster as a response. Will leave it there, without shouting, socialist rantings or otherwise. Btw, voted Conservative for years, but not now. Mainly due to project austerity, which has done more to damage and dictate a lower standard of living and brought in foreign workers instead of investing in training and the UK...so where that fits in with the attempt at labelling I dont know.

  17. In it's simplest of terms, a democratic majority peoples vote asked that we become an independent of the eu and a "third country" as the eu defines it, along with another 167 countries.

The eu, never really believing we would not leave, gave such a shit deal it had hoped to link the two of independence and a deal, they were wrong.

The decision now is,do we put business and those who willingly took part in the vote and lost, over the peoples democratic majority vote to leave?

Bearing in mind what this would do from that day forward in our democratic process's and every single decision that requires a vote would be able to have it's peoples democratic majority vote overuled and walked over?

The simpleton idea of some remainers seems to say yes, let's let the genie out of the bottle just once and then we can put it back in the bottle has never ever worked. How many "just once" would then follow, and what happens when the other side has that same genie in a bottle and decide to use it?

  18. Posting a video of what is actually happening is not fear mongering,it is informing.
Bad things happen, and authorities try to keep them secret if it suits their agenda.
illegal immigration across the channel takes place because the French are not really interested in stopping it,and the faux-conservative British government have swallowed the ridiculous liberal lie that uncontrolled immigration is not harmful to the rest of us and allow it to happen.
I posted that video because it illustrates what is happening 22 miles from the UK border,i.e,mindless gang thuggery by people who believe that violent misbehaviour is the way to obtain what they want...imagine if the generally law-abiding general population decided that violence was the way to satisfy all of their selfish desires?
I have witnessed it,I pay for the windscreens and have almost been a victim of it.
And as I pointed out,the French authorities,(supported by a misguided and unthinking section of society),tried to suppress religious persecution of homosexuals by prosecuting an individual who brought it to the attention of the public.(The same way as the British are trying to hide the gang rape of minors be jailing the man that brought it,and the lack of prosecutions),to the publics attention.
Fascist dictatorship masquerading as socialism has brought about these terrible situations that didn't exist even 30 years ago, those who try to deny free speech and limit public knowledge of the truly awful things that are happening in the world are to blame.
