  5. The BBC say she is considering her position. An announcement is expected tomorrow.

  6. I probably have it wrong, but weren’t the remainers saying, last week or so, what we need is a coup to stop brexit. Now they are waving their ‘stop the coup’ placards.

    No pleasing some people. :)
    (That’s just what Jesus said)

Parliament to be suspended in September

Parliament will be suspended just days after MPs return to work in September - and only a few weeks before the Brexit deadline.
Boris Johnson said a Queen's Speech would take place after the suspension, on 14 October, to outline his "very exciting agenda".

But it means the time MPs have to pass laws to stop a no-deal Brexit on 31 October would be cut.
House of Commons Speaker John Bercow said it was a "constitutional outrage".

The Speaker, who does not traditionally comment on political announcements, continued: "However it is dressed up, it is blindingly obvious that the purpose of [suspending Parliament] now would be to stop [MPs] debating Brexit and performing its duty in shaping a course for the country."

  10. Nicola Sturgeon says Boris Johnson is acting like a "tin pot dictator"...
Are there no mirrors in that woman's house?

  11. Bercow should have been prosecuted! His ego is completely out of control and the power of his position has corrupted him.

  12. Indeed it is! Hilarious to see the Remainers completely wrong-footed. Politics is going to be fascinating for the next few weeks.

We now have a government that's playing the cards in their hand very shrewdly. What a massive contrast on May's inept strategy from the start.

I also enjoyed seeing our PM being in the limelight during the G7; he is a serious player who can charm and change the dynamics. Let's hope it continues.

  13. Apparently the MEPs are getting involved now, they seem to think Boris's actions contravene rule 7 of some treaty or other, they're taking it to the EU court.

  15. ‘EU parliamentarians are circulating an emergency question to the European Commission calling for action under Article 7 of the EU’s founding treaty, which has been used to censure countries such as Poland and Hungary when their governments have been deemed to be undermining democracy or fundamental rights.’

  17. Oh noes. The UK will be banned from voting in the European Council until they toe the EU line. Argh.

  18. Apparently, if unanimously agreed by the 27, they can launch sanctions and suspend UK voting rights.

How will that work for them in November?
