Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  6. I did answer it but I think you are looking for an answer only you want. Does he have principles is a wide application. For the role of pm and trying to move us on from 2016 I think his defining principle is to get it done so on the matter of brexit yes I would say he has principles

It would be embarrassing to say he might have more principles to get the U.K. going again than those who want to keep us stuck in this rut of going nowhere

  7. If only BJ had the stomach for it:
“The Civil Contingencies Act 2004 is a constitutional outrage. It allows a government to declare an emergency, and then to rule by decree. It should never have been made. But it was made; and it can now be used as an instrument of liberation.
The Act defines “emergency” as just about anything the authorities may dislike. One possible definition is “an event or situation which threatens serious damage to human welfare in a place in the United Kingdom.” (s.1(1)) This sounds a promising excuse. It seems to cover what the Opposition claims would be the effect of a No-Deal Brexit.
Triggering the Act requires no more than “a senior Minister of the Crown” – that is, Boris Johnson – to announce an Emergency. This done, he can make, alter or suspend almost any law he likes. (s.22) He can do this for a period of thirty days. (s.26) All he has to do is preface his decree with a statement that he “is satisfied that the regulations contain only provision which is appropriate for the purpose of preventing, controlling or mitigating an aspect or effect of the emergency in respect of which the regulations are made.” (s.20(5)(b)(ii))”.

  13. Let me be more specific, as you seem to be struggling with a simple question...............do you think Boris Johnson has ‘principles’ that if put in practice would benefit humanity rather than just himself?

FYI I don’t think he does. Nor does his brother.

He’s good at playing games to benefit and progress his career at the expense of others though. (And by ‘others’ I mean the UK)

  14. Perhaps you missed this bit?

I did answer it but I think you are looking for an answer only you want. Does he have principles is a wide application. For the role of pm and trying to move us on from 2016 I think his defining principle is to get it done so on the matter of brexit yes I would say he has principles

Would they be the same as mine or yours? Unlikely but then I'm sure people have asked of you as they have of me, what are your principles?

As to his brother, he has been an ardent remainer mp in a pro leave constituency, left on "principles" when he was in May's cabinet and now has done the same when in his brothers

  15. Didn’t miss it at all.

Everything he does, in my opinion, is to further his position/career, and balls to everyone and everything else.

If you need evidence of that just think back to the start of this whole Brexit debacle. He sat on the fence until he was relatively confident he’d be backing the winning horse. He's done the same thing throughout his career, chopping and changing his stance whenever it suited him.

He’s a snake. Simples. And you’ve fallen for his rhetoric. Many members of the Conservative party and even his brother now see through him.

  16. if your result impacts negatively on a sizeable chunk that didn't vote for it, where less than two years previously in a once in a generation vote that was held on the explicit condition that your result wouldn't happen, but a compromise position was still offered by that sizeable chunk and totally doable and wouldn't impact on the result. whadda yah do? devolve power out? or make like the Ruling Class? if you chose, Ruling Class. would you be surprised if that sizable chunk thought, hmm nah, its no happening and we have a piece of paper with your signature on it saying, we don't have to accept it?

  17. I saw that aimed at him earlier, he wrote down the positives and negatives for both sides. Surely you want someone who can do that as the leader of the country? as it was , this followed the chequers weekend where after a few days he resigned as foreign secretary where it was clear what the eu deal had done. I would rather have someone like that bat for the U.K. in an negotiation on behalf of the U.K. rather than May or god forbid, Corbyn.

If I may El, from what I can fathom, you've done quite well in life and most of that has followed on from hard work but be honest, in order to get what you wanted and to get where you wanted, have you ever yourself
Everything he does, in my opinion, is to further his position/career, and balls to everyone and everything else.

    I know I have

  18. he wasn't the leader of the country, he was waiting to be led in the right direction to get him to where he wanted to be.

  19. oooo a ducati scrambler on goblin works garage as we speak

  20. In my life I’ve taken risks. Some have paid off, some haven’t.

When I had a business twenty odd years ago employing 110 people the one thing that weighed heavily wasn’t having to make massive profit all the time, it was knowing that I had 110 families that relied on the business and I had to try and keep a roof over their heads and food on their tables.

I’d like to think I am socially responsible and have a social conscience. Unfortunately that stance is seemingly a million miles away from today’s BoJo led government, and the “I’m alright Jack” society you seem to crave.
