British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. JV just did. Correctly.
The headline was just usual Daily Mail Hyperbole. Why the shock and surprise?

  2. The will of 17 million people, in a vote where 64 million could vote.

  3. on every hate or discredit the "Muslim" threads on here, most will correctly? state that not enough is done from within the Muslim community to call out the perpetrators of hate preach. probably one of my biggest criticisms of the brexit campaign. you want some credibility? distance your self from the headlines from your supporting press.

  4. I am prepared to take into account those that did vote in the opposite way to the winning side but I really can't be arsed about those who didn't vote, for whatever reason.

  5. Keep up at the back :)

  6. If anyone thinks the Government will 'implement the will of the people', then they will have a long wait IMHO.

Whatever they do, it won't be with you and me in mind.

  7. I think it is reasonable to expect manifesto commitments to be delivered.

  10. Good point. And at the last general election the Conservative, Labour, LibDem and SNP parties (including the vast majority of their MPs) were all committed to Remaining in the EU - so let's hold them to that now, shall we? After all, it would be quite wrong for them to vote against their commitments wouldn't it.

  11. Their job was to interpret the law ,in this case, without bias, and come to a conclusion.A Judge does not possess any more wisdom nor is any more immune to bias than other human beings, nor are their judgments guaranteed to be correct or fair.(this is admitted by the existence of the Appeal Courts-if all judgments were 100% there would be no need for them.
I have no more faith in Judges to act impartially than I do for any other human being, and I view their pompous demand to be shielded from public criticism as further evidence of how they, like so many other publicly funded officials, feel superior the rest of us.
I've had a few visits to courtrooms. My experience is that Judges are arrogant, slipshod, impatient, biased, and love being the great I am in their little kingdoms.
    Independent judiciary my arse.

  12. Yet a bill offering a referendum was passed through parliament, if it was such a dangerous threat then were they reckless in doing so ?

We both know why it was done and what the expected outcome was, unfortunately the great British public hadn't read the script.

So how can we, i.e. the political class, back peddle whilst not wanting to look disingenuous, or worse.

  13. I take it you lost your case then?

  14. Good for you

  15. Because we've already lost an MP...
