Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

  5. Japanese food is lovely, don't think they pose too much of an immigration threat though

  6. Got more sense than to inhabit a sinking ship.

  7. Apparently not. They've already committed to multi-billion pound investment in the post-Brexit economy.

  8. gotta speculate to accumulate. But given their shrinking population and high standard of living, the UK is no more than an investment or holiday destination I would have thought

  9. Cromwell's Whoremasters Speech to Parliament
General Cromwell's Dissolution of the Long Parliament 1653:

"It is high time for me to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonoured by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice; ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would like Esau sell your country for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth?

Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

In the name of God, go!"

Lt General Oliver Cromwell - April 20, 1653

  12. Much of what May is agreeing to is the UK investing in India.

Deals expected to be confirmed during the trip include:
    • A £1.2m joint venture between the Pandrol Group UK and Rahee Group in India to set up a manufacturing plant for rail projects
    • A £15m imaging and diagnostic centre in Chennai by Lyca Health UK
    • A £350m investment from UK start-up Kloudpad in high-tech electronics manufacturing in Kochi.

  13. Peanuts, I am surprised she can be bothered to get out of bed for that.

  15. It seems Mrs May plans to tour the world saying to various countries,
"We want a trade deal with you more favourable to the UK than the deal the EU has. And we want to place extra restrictions on your citizens coming to the UK".
    Chances of success: zero.

  16. I would have hesitated to suggest that Mrs May's attempt to override Parliament and act as a dictator should be compared to Cromwell's. But now you have mentioned it, the parallel becomes obvious.

  17. I think it's quite clear that some on this thread have only ever negotiated for the cost of the socialist worker newspaper on a Saturday.:grinning:

IMO there should not be any such person as a 'professional' politician............

.............although on reflection, none of them behave professionally.
