British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. would that not then mean, the other separate nations should also be allowed to have individual nations arrangements in the U.K. if Scotland is getting preferential treatment?

  2. dude, correct me if i am wrong (i know you will :D) but there has been a constant theme across speakers corner. and that my friend is, tradition and convention are the root of all evil in the corridors of power.

  3. History tells you what happened. It is suggestive of the future but it doesn't tell you what will happen.

In the end, do you want to live under a system that enforces "rights" upon you without your having any say in the matter? Or do you want to live under a system where you can get "rights" enshrined in Law ... if only you cared enough about them to get off your arse, write to your MP, lobby him and vote for "the other guy" if your MP ignores you?

A society that has rules enforced by an unaccountable government is the worst possible solution to the issue of workers' rights. What if this unaccountable authority enforces "rights" that you don't agree with? What path to a resolution is available to you?

  4. they do already. and because of the campeigning of the scots. a degree of divergance over income tax to reflect the differeces across the uk on wage isnt quite the same as whats been offered to N/I. on any other thread that would be rewarding terrorisem.

  5. As I already said your arguement is not without merit, repeating it wasn't really necessary.

The people of the country including the "workers" can see that more than 50% of the time they have their rights errorded by virtue of a Tory government being in charge. They can reasonably expect that to continue.

Perhaps it seems better to take a chance to avoid a a near certainty?

  6. My point is about the intentions of a future tory government if they regain power.

  8. and the fact the third thats required to win out right power wont vote for anything other than red or blue tory.
again, 2005 scotland the poorest country in the west and after 8years of uk lab gov and 6 of lab devolution. whill ruk was booming.

  9. Then, now, What about the future read the deal and compare it with May's.

  10. just another example of what is going on here in this uk.
    .
THE US-born Gaelic singer turned down for a “talent” visa has been given fresh hopes thanks to a u-turn on her application – after the Sunday National highlighted her case.

Writer and performer Maya Evan Matyas – who also uses the pen name M Evan MacGriogair – was part of the Alba choir which represented Scotland at the Eurovision Choir contest in August.

The 34-year-old was a prize winner at Mod Ghlaschu, at which she performed with trad act Manran.
    .
But on the opening weekend of that Gaelic culture festival, the Sunday National revealed how her “exceptional promise” visa – designed for “highly skilled” individuals who can “enrich the UK’s knowledge economy and society” – was rejected by Arts Council England, which judges culture bids for the Home Office.

The case drew criticism from the Scottish Government and Gaelic bodies, who voiced concerns over the lack of input from Creative Scotland, Bord na Gaidhlig, or any other organisation with expertise on Gaelic language and culture.

Not a single Scottish agency has been given Designated Competent Body status by the Home Office.

  11. was she one of the conditions of brexit or is this just another non related nonsense you're putting in?

Or did you forget in your copy and paste from the Scotsman, to include the link to show this decision has already been reversed?

  12. So don't vote Tory. If enough people agree with your POV, the Tories won't be able to do anything.

    Sorted.

Hang on, If I think the UK should leave the EU do I vote Tory (I'd rather not though) ?

  14. No. If you want to leave the EU, you vote The Brexit Party.

Most of the other parties are either Remain, or UKIP.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  15. Hmmmhm, I get ya, when Scotland gets preferential treatment then they are entitled, but when N.I. does they shouldn't because of terrorists because only scotland should get the sweety bag. Yep, gotya

  16. what do you think? is it just more greivence? or is there a different atmosphere in the home office? is this an isolated case?
