It is funny given how many said there is not enough time in parliament to discuss the bill, switching over to the parliament channel just now and there is only 20% ish mps in the house. It would appear even the loudest who have shouted not enough time are not there either.
It’s also a fair reflection of where things might return to as Brexit and the discourse peddled by some of its proponents has emboldened and reinvigorated the racist element in this country. As has been said before, “Not all Brexiteers are racists but all racists are Brexiteers”
I'm sorry Zed but I do not feel that. It serves that whilst we are not perfect and there are still some challenges, we should not go back to the upsetting and dissapointing times that film reflects. I am also reminded in that some are always convinced racists can only be white https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9945638/girl-racist-rant-london-bus-passengers-southall/ You say this As has been said before, “Not all Brexiteers are racists but all racists are Brexiteers” I find that incorrect and offensive, would you be okay with all young black men stabbed in london are stabbed by other young black men therefore all black young men are stabbers? The biggest drive in immigration in regards to brexit was to stop uncontrolled migration and replace it with controlled migration. That is asking for a sensible migration system and not a qualification test for racists as you imply. There was a death in an Essex town of a Polish man in august 2016. People who make such statements as you just have, opportunists against brexit, sought to label it as racist due to brexit. It was sworn the man had not been drinking but simply singled out because he was polish. A polish minister, chief constable of Essex even the towns mp stood waiting to appear to be people of reason and saying racism should not happen and this was because of brexit. The media throughout the land said the same thing, this was a brexit racist death and a hate crime When the case went to court in Chelmsford the truth came out. The man had been in Poland all of his life and had been in the U.K. only weeks. He and his mates had gotten shit faced in the local pub then went to get some fast food, saw the usual group of ferral teens in the local shopping centre and started insulting them who then gave gob back which led to much chest puffing and with a single blow from a teen, the man Arkadiusz Jozwik, then fell over, cracked his head on the concrete floor and died in a way which I think is known as single punch death When it was established it had not been a race crime, nor a hate crime nor as a result of brexit, where were the politicians to apologise, where were the police to apologise and where were the media to apologise they had gotten it wrong? They were nowhere because the truth was not as advantageous in headlines as the falsehood and opportunism by those seeking to stop brexit.
Maybe that’s true, but it’s the kind of shite that’s been peddled to stifle immigration debates and stop people being proud of the U.K. and all it’s achievements. It’s destroyed the U.K.s traditions and moral values What’s not shouted about is that the racists are a minuscule section of U.K. society and whatever happens there always will be some people that are that way inclined
a few years back sombody started a thread asking, what are brittish values. it got no serious replys.
I'm dissapointed fin that you found a mans death funny as reflected by your laughing smiley. How would such "brexiteers are racist" claims hold up in largely south asian populations of the U.K.? A number of jurisdictions with large South Asian populations delivered Leave votes, including Luton (56.5% Leave), Hillingdon (56.4% Leave), Slough (54.3% Leave) and Bradford (54.2% Leave). All have South Asian populations of 25% and above. It’s not unreasonable to think that such Leave votes could not have been delivered without a significant number of Asian voters opting for Brexit. https://blogs.lse.ac.uk/brexit/2017...ian-vote-for-brexit-contains-a-few-surprises/ If anything, the one standard migration system the U.K. is moving towards reduces the chances of racism as opposed to the eu's two tier system where white europeans have standards of favouritism that do not extend beyond the eu's walls to the mostly non white populations.
If the previous statement is correct that would make you the biggest racist just for your dedication to Scotland I don’t see how that’s true but that’s how they are twisting it
My wifes neighbours are Polish. They would have voted Brexit if allowed to vote. To keep out more Poles. Ironic. Doesnt mean its not racist though. When you quote British Asians as voting for Brexit, can they not be racist too? Dianne Abbott school of racism at work.
Also Noobie, after reading the link, the author actually has no real data. It would be just as easy to say more white British males voted out in those areas. For racist reasons. Cant prove either way.
tbh, i didnt read that far. what i find amusing, was this and coming from you it is, and because it came from you i felt no need to read further.
Listening to the radio on the way home they were talking to various MP’s. maybe I don’t fully understand it all, the basic impression I got was that nothing is going to be agreed. I really do think that MPs only support in a majority would be to cancel brexit. Another referendum (or 2 ) if a result came back of leave without a deal, what would they all do - resign, or carry on as they are ?
Nope. Johnson will push for an election. Tory party will fill all seats with Brexiteers and win. Hard Brexit will be delivered. The opposition is to blame, Labour, Libdiibs, SNP. They had their chance to force a soft Brexit via the indicative vote process. All too tied up in playing party politics.
not strictly true. the SNP are champing at the bit for a GE. big gains expected which progresses their argument.
The last thing particularly labour want is a general election, they know they will get hammered at the polls and the tories are likely to finish with a substantive majority which would end all the game playing that people now despise in parliament
As to the snp, enough Scots have seen the chicanery they have offered, it certianly would be interesting to see if their divide the nations strategy has worked for them
The way the MPs were talking on the radio they were convinced the ‘people’ have changed their mind. Don’t think any wanted a GE though
