British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. The other issue is, on both of labours offers of more eu brexit negotiations, one is to stay, the other is brexit in name only keeping the single market, freedom of movement, the ecj and the customs union.

To remove effectively all competition in the internet market so only one provider is available, would be against eu competition rules that we would still be liable to obey. I don't think they thought this through too well

  2. Exactly. Regardless of their views on Brexit, I think a fair few people who tell pollsters they’ll vote Tory or Labour will baulk at the thought of either Johnson or Tory ruling the country once they get in the ballot booth.

I’m one of them. I’m unashamedly a leftie and a fairly radical one (I even have a selfie with gorgeous George Galloway) from a party a few years ago, but even I raise an eyebrow at the prospect of us having a Prime Minister who took tea with the IRA and attended Hamas funerals etc

  3. They didn't land on the moon :eyes:

  5. yip, i have strong left of centre ideals, but i am also pretty hard core right when it comes to some unemplyment and benifit issues ect. my problem with labour and gormless george (i actually do like him as a talker) sums up labour perfectly. George took part in our reff and told us how GOOD THE EU IS, and we wouldnt get back in, only to tell us how shit it is just a few months later. that, is labour in scotland in a nutshell

  7. Free Broadband to all says McDonnell (after Labour have re-nationalised BT).

So all the other companies that provide Broadband (mainly using BT plant) have to close or be absorbed by the nationalisation programme.

And Broadband will be free to all?

    Pull the other one.

Or does that mean we will get free electricity, water, gas, railway travel as well?

How many more dickhead things are they going to come up with?

  12. Theres only 1.5% of the homes in the UK that have FB. Which means 98.5% are not supplied it by BT or anyone else. Seems that maybe there could be an opening here?

BT could have done things differently and that number could have been much higher.

  13. Just a point of order here.

Will people kindly stop using the argument, "Well it worked in Country A, of course it will work in Country B".

Populations, cultures, societal norms, attitudes, values - these vary, usually wildly, from country to country. Compare modern Sweden with modern Poland, for instance. France, with Hungary. UK with ... uh ... well, anywhere, really.

False equivalency is destroying your arguments and often, making y'all look like poopyheads. Stop.

    You're welcome!

  16. CNN, mate.

    It's *wrecking* you! : o D

  17. Yeah. My politics are a bit of a smorgasbord too, along similar lines as I have strong social justice leanings but very little time for the fecklessness and fuckwittery.

I also have mixed feelings about GG. As an advocate myself, I admire his oratorical skills as he is a mesmerising public speaker and I admire the way he went toe to toe with the political establishment on both sides of the Atlantic over the Iraq War (and was proved right) but some of his other witterings make me wince.

  18. Oddball: Why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don’t you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don’t you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?
    Moriarty: Crap!

    Oddball: Hi, man.
Big Joe: What are you doing?
Oddball: I’m drinking wine and eating cheese, and catching some rays, you know.
    Big Joe: What’s happening?
Oddball: Well, the tank’s broke and they’re trying to fix it.
Big Joe: Well, then, why the hell aren’t you up there helping them?
Oddball: [chuckles] I only ride ’em, I don’t know what makes ’em work.
    Big Joe: Christ!
Oddball: Definitely an antisocial type. Woof, woof, woof! That’s my other dog imitation.
