Small government with more localised decision making. We have 1,000+ houses that have gone through on appeal above the local Council's head, crazy lack of roads, schools, GP and really not a good decision but typical of how things are at the moment with the upping house building at any cost.
the Nordic models have considerably more in the way of local accountability. which is just about as opposite to the conservative/brexiteer vision as can be.

A fair point, but although things are still bad in some areas there is now proper competition and from my recollection the old British Rail service was pretty poor. Get onto my local Chiltern Line or GWR trains and they really are in a different league. When it's a monopoly without competition then maybe there is a better case for state control in some form. Privatisation has been a success: 1.65 billion rail journeys are made annually, more than double the number before privatisation, while the volume of freight carried on the railways is up 80% since privatisation.
