British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.

  2. bit of a trumpion statement no?
dont you like british laws for brittish people?
np need to reply, i know it was just a trolling exercise..

  3. Comment based on actual events of the last 3 years fin, but you knew that already

good luck snp because unless you replace and exceed the 56 you had in 2015, all you are doing is using Boris's nurses calculator :D

  4. Lets re cap.

The banks go tits up which inflicts a load of suffering on the government due to borrowing needed to bail them out and the fall in tax revenue due to fall in GDP. Which increases national debt and the deficit.

When looking in the tool box to reduce this governmental suffering the only tool chosen is austerity, which reduces budgets on public services. So now the suffering is transferred onto those who use those services e.g. NHS, Police, infrastructure.

But, since 2010 the number of millionaires in the UK has risen from 508K to 715K (just when the economy is making the government suffer) so I don't think they're suffering. Phil Green is still probably paying less tax than his cleaner as is Amazon, Facebook, Ebay etc so I dont think they're suffering. So the people suffering are the ones at the bottom of the pile using the public services whose budgets have gone and whose wages are easiest to squeeze.

And despite this suffering due to austerity National debt is still growing. Unbelievably, now is the time to start spending again just when an election has been called, and I think I can still hear the drum of tax cuts being beaten in the background. To be paid for by the promise of a better economy, even tho when the economy recovered after the banks debacle, within 5 years of the crash, debt still increased.

I ask for your forgiveness when I think back to JFK when he said "think not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". But that is never going to float , is it.

You touched on immigration. I heard a senior economist calling UK industry for being totally lazy ( basically a dereliction of duty) by not upskilling the workforce here because its easier, cheaper and quicker to import them. Which to me is more of the get the profit booked now and paid out philosophy and bollocks to the consequences on our industry, services and benefits.

So while I'm not a fan of Corbin or Abbott I'm defo not a fan of BoJo.

  11. Lucky I spotted this as you spelt my username incorrectly.

Fine, £20 to the charity of each other's choice. I dearly hope your lot eject that West Country interloper (No not the editor of your beloved 'Wings Over Scotland'), Jo Swinson from her seat. That would be a definite cup of tea and hob nobs moments, keeping on rewinding the footage of her pudding like face, standing there trying to look magnanimous as the count is read out and realisation sets in that she's blown it. :) I can but hope.

  12. I went to vote before. Although not at the levels of the turnout of 2017, where I was shocked to have to queue for the 1st time at my local polling station, it still felt busier than normal.

  16. aye, i bet they would fuck it up so bad that they would have to reduce the debt by taxing the spare room of a disabled person.

  17. Hate all the ‘working man’ shit associated with the Labour Party. And I’ve been a working man all my life. Still am. Since I was 16 up to today I attend work in safety boots, hard hat and overalls.

And don’t get me started with the good old Unions. I’d have them all lined up and shot. I’ve had too many disappointing experiences with them.

  18. How is it a bedroom tax if the person isn't actually taxed anything?
