British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. So we can expect more of the same from the past 10 years?

I’m so, so sorry guys. Just utterly devastating. Brexit just smashed us. Keeping together an electoral coalition of Remainers and Leavers as the country bitterly divided just became impossible.

Not going to lie, I’m in the brace position guys. But those of you who fought - in however a small or big way - against formidable odds in the last few weeks should be so so so proud of yourselves.

  14. I really and truly hope that they do, if not at least for them to split so that the far left momentum group can be separated away from the more traditional working class side of the party.

The message or lack thereof on Brexit this last 3 years from them has in no doubt been a driver behind the results, but I dare say so has the over the top manifesto pledges of almost total nationalisation and people's concerns of massive over spending. They just went too far, with too much, when it could and should have been a less is more approach.

Of course most people want a fairer society and a better ran NHS, and I hope Labour in whatever shape it becomes from here sticks with that. Unfortunately reading some of the early comments from labour top brass they're blind to the reality and still in denial. Maybe the 'process of reflection' to coin Corbyns phrase will help them pull their head out of the clouds.

    Here's McDonnell:

Speaking to the BBC, Mr McDonnell said if the exit poll is correct, it would be an "extremely disappointing" result for his party.

"I thought it would be closer. I think most people thought the polls were narrowing," he said.

He added that he did not think Mr Corbyn's leadership of the party was "the big issue" of the campaign, but rather the issue of Brexit had "dominated".

Asked if Mr Corbyn should resign if the prediction is borne out, he said "appropriate decisions" would be taken when the results were in.

  19. Well, there you go.

The UK voted to maintain the status quo and remain a country that takes its instructions from the EU ...

... but at least we didn't vote to burn the country down to the ground in the process.

    Meh. Huzzah.

  20. Did Tony Blair do ok?
