British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. "The English have no exaulted sentiments. They can all be bought."

    ???

  2. OK.

No wars on mainland Europe since 1945.
    Cleaner air to breathe
    Cleaner water to drink
    Cleaner beaches
Cheaper goods as we can buy from anywhere in Europe providing more competition.
Easy movement around Europe once past the first Border.
The choice of working, living and retiring anywhere in the EU.
    Consumer rights
EU funding for many local projects particularly in Scotland, N Ireland, Wales, Cornwall and the North East of England.
    Big research grants.
Taking on big corporations in the fight against tax avoidance.
Workers rights in regard to paid holiday, sex discrimination,, part time and agency workers rights.
    Cheaper mobile phone calls
    Cheaper air flights
    The Erasmus student exchange programme.

All these are of benefit to the majority. It would be hard to argue otherwise.

  3. I agree with you duke, why argue with the majority against something that will benefit the majority.

Don't suppose you noticed a little vote we had in the 23rd of June 2016 did you?

  5. No wars on mainland Europe since 1945.
Are you absolutely positive on this? What about:

    Nagorno-Karabakh War 1998-1994
    Ten Day War 1991
    Georgian Civil War 1991-1993
    Transnistria War 1992
    Bosnian War 1992-1995
    First Chechen War 1994-1996
    Second Chechen War 1999-2000
    Russo-Georgian War 2008
    Kosovo War 1998-1999
    Donbass War 2014-Present

There are plenty more to cite if needed.

    Big research grants.
    Again are you sure?

The UK Allocation of Science and Research Funding 2015/16 document from the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) revealed that its overall investment in UK science and research would be £5.8bn for the Financial Year 2015/16. By contrast, the European Research Council (ERC), the organisation that funds projects done through EU science networks, has a budget for 2016 of £1.3bn; and that is to fund all 28 EU countries and the 13 non-EU countries that currently participate in the ERC funding programmes. Given that the UK received around 14.4% of ERC funds from the most recent funding programme (FP7) [evidence here], we could expect around £190 million of EU science funding in 2016.

the article it was taken from: UK Science is not reliant on EU Funding – Scientists for Britain
Although not a valid source it links to the documents in question the are valid sources.

I suggest before you make claims you look for researched and citable evidence first :Banghead:

  8. Hmmm, Strange what he said post Brexit vote then. That itself contradicted a previous statement by him. He wants to make his mind up.

HSBC, massive Remain supporters? Sabre rattling maybe as he doesn't even know the outcome yet. They key word is "plans". They'd be foolish not to plan for an eventuality.

    So what's your point here?

Any comments on the physical jobs that have been announced or created since the BRexit vote? Google, Nissan?

  10. What's Paris got to offer that we haven't and when all is fine after Brexit if those banks choose to leave but find it was better where they were then they should be sent to the desert and trade from there

  13. Remember @Ducbird 8 years ago we wanted to send all bankers to the desert to die. Now he thinks they are people to be coveted and the duke is claiming a national disaster in the event of 1000 of them moving a few hundred miles. Is he talking abount city bankers or paediatric consultant surgeons here?, he does get confused about things a little. :)
