Good to see you admitting finally it is the NATIONAL debt and not just ENGLANDS. Your slow but you get there eventually
I can't stand the poor excuse of a woman I want to drop her off in the desert and leave her there horrible woman!!!
As I said, it was a genuine question, I don't know why it's hit a nerve. You have said it won't happen and I simply asked if this is still your opinion now that the Commons has voted to invoke Article 50? I never asked whether it has happened as you know, just whether you still believe it won't happen?
chill dam, follow it for a while and you will see its the same group that post day after day after day. i used to read the online edition and like every other publication it was full of doom and gloom from their perspective. go check out the comments on the daily mail, oh my god, hate speech in any other religion. in some respects the comments section can be quite telling, it only goes to prove that the posters are either cleverly/poorly educated by the very publication they are commenting in, or like on here, (you know who you are) the extraordinary lengths some people will go to to hide or lie to push their chosen opinion. its all bollox. i am pretty much of the opinion, if i didn't see it for my self. then it didn't happen. which is possibly right where they want me. cocks.
On the face of it a good question, because we are constantly told "growth is good" (although nobody seems to want to consider this in terms of CO2 emissions, overpopulation, excessive consumption of consumer goods, personal debt, etc...) But the answer is simple - the "growth" is not generating enough tax revenue to keep up with ever-increasing government expenditure (especially on NHS and welfare) - "Austerity" never happened on the scale that it did in, say, Ireland. Also, an increasing amount has to be spent on interest on the debt. It's interesting to see that Scotland will be trying to balance the books (a bit) by increasing income tax for higher earners (stealthily, by freezing the threshold). I see that Nicola says that this is trivial as it's "less than the cost of a prescription every week"! This could be the thin edge of a wedge.
free tolls, many of the wealthiest will work in edinbro, glasgow but live on the other side of the bridge, free health care for the elderly, low life expectancy for the poor so it will be mostly the wealthy that benefit, free higher education, again who will benefit mostly from that. . with v.little control over the financial leavers. and with no way to borrow, (i think that might of changed this year) not been in campaign mode for a couple of years so dont know all the facts. on the whole, not a bad budget.
we have no debt. just allocated debt, we dont get a grant. we pay in to the national coffers then get some of it back. on the whole, not a bad budget. v.progressive. loz. :smileys:
Yes, I believe West Sussex County Council operates a similar system albeit with bigger sums involved. :Angelic:
Sussex. is that south east?. guess who come second in the uk after the south east in terms of gdp? thanks for the opportunity:smileys:. actually that was bollox, second after the south east for inward investment 3rd after london and the south east re GDP.
Fully agree with you there mate, both papers are at the complete opposite ends of the spectrum. I read comments on both, the Guardian tends to be fear, loathing of the uneducated, elitist limp wristed wankers who would fall over in a mild breeze. Then the mail seems to be full of narrow minded imbeciles sticking their chests out for a scrap I just can't get my head around either, but I think the guardian riles me the most because they're clearly educated enough to string a fairly decent paragraph together, and yet so blinded by their own self importance and questionable moral compass some of the hysteria is frankly staggering. All fun though
I've just seen on Sky news that apparently we are now seemingly meant to give a shit about what the Lithuanian President says. With the very greatest of respect to her, bugger off.
I did like the post till I saw the highlighted bit which kinda killed it's relevance given how often wings over Somerset is continually mentioned, and that made me sad
It hasn't hit a nerve (unless it was yours my reply hit). To answer your question; it hasn't happened yet and if you take a good look at what is going on, if it does happen, it will either take a bloody long time (note that open borders immigration will still be ongoing for 10 years at least) or it will be so watered down there won't be much point in it happening anyway. That's assuming WW3 hasn't kicked off, of course. So No, I haven't changed my mind because Governments, especially the UK Govt are so damn clever at disguising whatever they do, until it is spotted years later (like how we ended up in the EU in the first place).
This is the down side of equal votes within the EU, it gives tin pot countries equal votes despite quite a few of them never having put more in, than they take out. Lithuania took out over 4 times more than it puts in, Poland is the same, scroll down within the link article for the figures, EU Facts: how much does Britain pay to the EU budget? - Telegraph
Does that include the sheep budget? Cos catching and grooming sheep is big business in Scotchland whereas we don't have room for 'em down here.
It genuinely isn't a gloat @Chris, I was just interested as @Arquebus was convinced we wouldn't be leaving a few months ago. I now think it's looking a lot more likely and wanted to see if he was still convinced it wouldn't happen. I disagree with the "open borders immigration will still be ongoing for 10 years at least", "there won't be much point in it happening anyway" or the onset of WW3. But thanks for answering the question. I guess we'll see in due course.
