British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. i was merely correcting YOUR post

  2. I wouldn't be surprised if that is exactly what is going on behind closed doors. For me the issue is sovereignty, if that can be guaranteed, and not just on the back of an envelope, I could live with a compromise. Particularly if it also saved the Union.

  3. Which was commenting upon someone else's post ;)

  4. I agree with you on this.

  5. And you had the opportunity to correct it, yet chose not to. And by not doing so agreed with it.... in my book ;)

  9. So can I lock this and the other thread now? :)

Or are we to go round the houses, with everyone disagreeing with each other, in perpetuity? :(

  10. And how does anyone on here KNOW there isn't an exit strategy in place? Unless you've got access to 10 and 11 Downing Street, you know nothing, nor do the media guttersnipes.
The traitorous anti-British BBC have been claiming that the Chancellor has been holed up all weekend, the implication that he was somehow avoiding the press.
When in actual fact he was doing what he is paid to do,that is managing the economy.
And I take back some of what I've said about him,he's admitted he doesn't like the result but he's promised his best efforts to get the best possible deal from the EU.
The media think they've got some kind of divine right to know what is going on: you can keep picking over the carcass of the Referendum, but all we know is that the destination has been chosen, and that is OUT.
The route we are going to take to get there is going to be long and tortuous,it may or may not have been decided yet,we don't know and we don't need to know.
Neither does the media, they are not as important as they think they are.
Again, all we know is the destination, not every twist and turn or bump in the road on the journey.
If it wasn't so serious,it would be funny watching the Remain supporters resort to personal insults aimed at anyone who saw that the Emperor was wearing no clothes.
As for the media, they cannot abide the fact that they've failed to persuade the electorate to obey them twice now, once in the GE and now this...so the picture they are desperate to paint is as black as possible, regardless of what is actually happening. Some of these so-called journalists should be prosecuted for the outright lies and spin they have propagated.
So if you were of the losing opinion, keep name calling, boys and girls.
It will not affect the result, but it just demonstrates the reasons why you lost,i.e,you were not smart enough to see through the bullshit, you sucked it up like swine at the teat and you can't bear that others didn't.So you have to resort to personal abuse...you're completely devoid of imagination and original thought.
You know something? I'm sick of this negative bullshit from these losers.
This exit vote the best thing that has happened to this country for a very long time, and one day history will reflect that.
These are exciting times, unbelievably exciting times...my skin tingles just THINKING about the future!!!!

  16. Let's be honest until the vote to sign Article 50 is passed through Parliament, nothing will change. My betting is on Boris being leader (which is all he ever wanted) and then him having another referendum with 3 options. Leave altogether, leave but with the same immigration terms and free market access as Norway and Switzerland or stay as we are now.

  17. can i just clarify there was no name calling or swearing as your stars have appeared to have made my post look

    ta

  18. It's simple. If the politicians want to bottle it, they will vote for a Swiss system. In this:
We get access to the free market
We pay the EU lots of money
We accept free movement of peoples
We have to put up with umpteen EU rules and regulations
We get to keep our own laws, by and large, and don't have to submit to the European Court of Justice.

In other words, nothing much changes at all, but we are "out of the EU".
That "compromise" will probably be what is adopted. Nothing will change and everything will go back to normal. The letter of the referendum will be respected, even if the spirit of it is not, and the young can go back to tweeting, posting cat pictures and selfies on Facebook and going for Easyjet piss-ups all over Europe.
Everyone's happy (apart from those who had a problem with immigration...). The sovereignty-worriers get the result they really cared about.

In the meantime, the wise new government starts clamping down on non-EU immigration to get the numbers down. What's not to like?
