British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Look, democracy works like this:
    You are asked a question.
    You either vote for
    Vote against
Or can't be arsed to vote, in which case, if you can't be bothered to answer the question, no one really cares what you think anyway.

After that, you can invent all the maths you like. They could have said (and I bet they wish they had) "The referendum will require a 2/3 majority of voters to elicit change to the status quo". But they didn't. Hard cheese all round.

  2. Let's have a referendum as to whether you close it or not?

If the 'NO' vote wins..........Will you retire?

  3. Please keep this thread going, if nothing else we're starting to move towards a plan......which is better than the government is doing :)

  4. Is your characteristic good humour deserting you now, El T, since the result was announced? Chin up. It surely won't be anything like as bad as the paper-sellers and doom-mongers would have you believe. :yum:

  5. Is it a cunning plan?

  6. No need for a referendum........You can take over now Boris :)

  7. You know I'm not too sure about that, me admittedly I didn't.

But from memory the conservatives pretty much added it to the manifesto to directly combat the ukip party and nullify any potential losses to them.

Therefore I suspect the conservatives actually did pretty well out of the referendum offer.

Ultimately Cameron made the pledge and everybody that voted conservative has in some part responsibility for the outcome we have

  8. Wibble....

  9. Don't be daft............I look more like Donald Pleasance (when he was alive..........although I have lost a lot of weight).

  10. I hope not, otherwise what was the past 4 months for? We've had a vote, some of us don't like the outcome but that's democracy. We can bleat about it for a bit, I would hope that those that voted the other way will be magnanimous in their victory. But in the end we have to move on.

  11. 40% Rule?

    That's just under five inches.......

  12. I admit I voted to remain, and felt like I'd been kicked in the guts on Friday morning. But since then I've thought about it and have taken the view that the job's over and done with and "whatever will be, will be".

However I am now honestly bored by the to-ing and fro-ing of thinly veiled insults and smugness of those that voted to leave. Added to which some posts are getting personal and I have to spend every minute on here trying to police it.

What I don't understand is your stance on this subject. You don't live in the UK, the Eurozone, nor had a vote, yet you are seemingly intent on being a rabble rouser.

  13. I hope Boris doesn't become PM.
Just don't care for him,and I'd prefer a David Davies or even IDS again.
But I won't be at all surprised if Gorgeous George is in the frame-he's making all the right noises

  14. Hear hear my sentiment exactly

  15. On the whole it has been a reasonably good natured debate, with one or two minor exceptions.
