British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. He's kicking nothing into touch. His political career of being a one trick pony is over and he's practising after being asked to go on Strictly.

  2. yip, this really really will be fun. so na na nana na. :Asshat::smileys:
what was probably the biggest factor in that reff?, EU maybe? no reff has been called, a solution to the tory mess has been offered. despite what your press has imprinted in your mind. it was settled. done deal. i mean, you where up here, you know what was promised. and seeing as you where up here you will know what hasn't been delivered.
despite all that but excluding the EU gig we where getting on with it, being up here you will know that. you will also know what with you being in the hart of it, if the yes movement mentioned indi once, the torys will have mentioned it 6times already. not my or wings stats, Glasgow uni's media dept study btw. i can confirm watching the shit that i do, no matter what policy or consultation is announced, you will have the mooth on radio or on print giving it (as you put it) large. you lost btw, back in yer box.
i wonder how disappointed or surprised the elites where when the snp or associated movement didnt go the way of UKIP, sorry the dodo.
the eu nationals voted no to indi. they where excluded from brexit.
there has been a material and major change in circumstances, we reserve the right to change our minds based on the likely outcome of the negotiations. and if they are right when it comes to a power grab from holyrood from westminster. feck knows they where right about your pensions, your health service, blair and illegal wars, tax jobs and evasion, shipbuilding, asset stripping and a million and one other things. chances are they will be right about that also.
why are people so scared of a potential rerun?
and to be honest i have seen yer youngsters on QT. i can understand your concern.
but growing up with tory austerity i am confident ours know where there going if nothing changes.

  3. I saw that power grab marlarky claim

Can you tell me Prime minister, when we get back our rights to our own waters, oil, trade etc, will Scotland be getting it's own waters to maintain or will Westminster be carrying out a power grab

    What a pile o shite

The U.K. government will take back what was always ours as a collective, the U.K.'s territorial waters, which will be then maintained by the U.K. government. Which makes perfect sense as the Scottish Navy doesn't exist

  4. The biggest factor of that ref, I think you'll find, is that whatever was coming in the future, we are better facing it together.

Answer me this though, finm - what?

I suspect that the elites are as delighted with the SNP as they are with any other trivial distraction that takes the focus off of the real issues this nation faces.

    The EU *what*, now?
The EU isn't a nation, silly, Not yet. You must be referring to the non-UK citizens excluded from voting on a matter of UK interest and UK importance (you are aware that is customary for voters to be citizens of the country they are voting in, right?).

Ooh, major change of circumstances! First one of those we've had, since, ever!

You reserve the right to keep bleating on about dead issues until - ah, when, exactly?

As for the tales of woe ... these are the results of politicians thinking that they can do whatever the hell they like. You'll see that too, if your county councillors up there ever get any real power :)

Turns out, politicians have been sent an unmistakable message that they can no longer do their own thing ... said message coming, not from the Wildlings North of The Wall, as you might expect, but from the UK as a whole. Fancy that!

Can't really answer this one as I don't fear a re-run. Are some folks scared? What is a phobia of referendums called anyway?

I can tell you that I will be disgusted at the waste of time and money arising from a re-run of the referendum, on Indy or on Brexit for that matter. Keep running a vote till you get the result you want? Seems like snowflake logic to me.

I haven't seen QT for a while now. When did they start including 5-year-olds in the programme?

If they are going to invade Westeros, they need a plan for scaling The Wall. Nevertheless, that is some enterprising 5-year-olds you got there, finm :upyeah:

  5. Question is , why does an adult ( presuming that you are one as you have a full bike licence ) spend so much time writing such crap on a Saturday afternoon .

  6. Want to know the answer, GibberBot?

    You have to guess.

I'll give you a thousand guesses. If you haven't got it right by then, you will have confirmed everything it is I already suspect of you :D

  7. I only need the one thank you

  8. Excellent. You go away now?

  10. Assuming.
You assume on the basis of evidence. You presume where none has come to light.

These distinctions are important. English is the language of the world. You will need to master it to negotiate bail-outs with the IMF.

  12. I almost forgot about this. Nearly time to get your wallet out dukey. Let me think of a worthy charity. Would a contribution to the Conservative Party count, or even better, UKIP? :Hilarious:

  13. I think we are more likely to see Northern Ireland leave the U.K. than Scotland.

  14. finm me old mucker, you constantly challenge me on things we both agree on ... and ignore things I tell you that you don't like.

If that's beating me ... I don't want to win!

    :D

  15. yip. this is how i know.:smileys:
anyhoo. i have a more pressing issue than your sour grapes.:Angelic::smileys: what to do with the 848 and fugly.
blethering to one of the bigger garage owners again last week, you can tell when there is a wee overall quite spell when the other garage owners phones for a bit of chat and tech info and slips in a "so, how busy are you the now?". he also confirms there has been a downturn in business in the last 8months. busy week quiet week, busy week quiet week. gossip has it the biggest in town is considering redundancies. unheard of up here. oban is the hub of argyll and the islands, always busy, all year round, no real public transport and every fecker needs a car, and every fecker needs it repaired like yesterday . as i said before, my phone quite literally stopped ringing on the 24th of june for what felt like 3months after 6months of mentelness. my main supplier confirmed i had the quietest July and august in 6years of trading with them, deffo not as many EU nationals kicking about.
due to the nature of the economy out here, tourism, fishing and farming i guess we have a high reliance on our cousins from the continent, ether they are leaving or not spending. the apprentice left last october and as yet haven't bothered to replace him (no need). kind of promised a lad he could restart back if he ever got fed up with Canada, looking at facebook, he is currently somewhere over the Atlantic on the return leg of his travels. :Nailbiting: so, what to do?
i have come to the conclusion i cant really afford to run and maintain two bikes to a high standard. :(.
    my options are
    A. bury my head in the sand and keep both?.
    B. sell the 848. keep the savings for the expected rainy day just around the signing of article 50?
    C. trade em both for a new hyper and go looking for a good 749(in yellow) when i am feeling flush again.
i really really hate selling my stuff. but it is v.nice tho. and suites my riding style down to a T. here's a pic of one. v.nice.

    hmm.

  16. Some good news from Kinlockleven tho , maybe you might get some of that ,,, oh btw , keep the 848 and sell the pug

  17. deffo, v.good news for the whole area. they have lost a couple of big employers over the last few years too.
hmm. chances are come April when they are both taxed i will choose burying my head.
    it is nice tho

  18. Possible. But a very different prospect to Scottish secession. Reuniting with a fully functioning neighbour, an internationally recognised sovereign country with an established constitution, political infrastructure and a mature economy - even one that has temporarily adopted a doomed tinpot currency - is one thing. Creating an entirely new country overnight and one that must either fight its corner with a fledgling currency in the bear pit of the international money markets or adopt the aforementioned tinpot version and be swallowed whole by the EU with all the cultural, political and economic dissipation which that involves and see its new-found sovereignty digested, redistributed and watered down to invisibility is quite another.
And if Ireland does reunify it is entirely possible that they too will vote to leave the EU within the next five years. That would be a very good opportunity to dissolve the Union of the Crown and create a federal alliance between the sovereign nations of the British Isles free of the malign influence of European imperialism.

  19. Well as the owner of two Ducatis, bought when times were good but SORN'd through much of their lives because times are usually really bad ... I stuck my head in the sand and kept them.
Probably the worst decision I've made that doesn't involve wimmins ( :Hilarious: ) but I still have 'em (even though I can't ride them due to, ironically, times being good - heh).

Bah. Fuck the Tories. That's what you should do, finm :p
