British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. Not to mention the favourable Inheritance Tax benefits.

  2. Inheritance tax should be abolished for everyone. A wealth or property transfer tax on assets that have been taxed already is pure theft. I'm not concerned with landowners being able to pass on their property to the next generation. That is right and proper. Its corporate business moving into agriculture to shift profits away from primary taxation while milking tax-payer funded EU with one hand and lobbying for more of them with the other and running British agriculture down at the same time that I object to. Leaving the EU and the insane CAP gives us the opportunity to consign this madness to the bin.
While we're at it abolish inheritance tax entirely and cut corporation tax to 10% and stitch up the loopholes.

  3. I agree with that up to a certain point, but:
A great deal of the big bucks owned by the landed gentry was either never taxed when they acquired the land and assets,or it was taxed a looooong time ago: therefore many of those who currently enjoy those assets will never have paid a penny in any kind of tax.
And one of the great injustices of life is that once these estates/fortunes/assets were acquired, the unwillingness of Governments ensures that the very rich will stay very rich, even though the wealth may well have been acquired by dubious means, royal patronage,or even at the very best acts of alleged bravery centuries ago,(but more likely acts of loyalty to whatever Aristocracy was lording it over the peasants at the time).
And none of the above is fair, just,or reasonable.
I'd prefer to see the tax on the Estate abolished, but a limit on the amount an individual can inherit with a punitive rate charged on anything over the limit.
This would dilute the power of the very rich by spreading the inheritance over a larger number of people, and if it wasn't splashed around then a very large tax bill puts a lot of dosh into the taxpayers pocket.
I'd like to see a tax on unproductive land as well, and abolish the,"owned by the National Trust country estate" scam too.
At the end of the day,if these people can't afford these monuments to the suffering of the working class, they should downsize, just like the rest of us.

  4. The German industrialists break cover already as Joe Kaeser the head of the €108bn Siemens empire states, in relation to the UK, "I am willing - and the company is willing to invest - further. There are more opportunities than risks for us."

  5. In order to show foreign car manufacturers just how Britian operates, the Unite union has today announced there will be strikes at the U.K. bmw/mini plants and they are now discussing possible walkout dates involving up to 3,500 workers at four sites.

    Gotta love Len McCluskey.

  6. I watched him talking about protecting jobs and workers rights on Question Time, "The Tories want to rip up workers rights" blah, blah blah. He a dangerous man and up for a fight without the slightest regard for the long term outlook of whoever that might impact upon. He'll still keep his 6 figure Unite salary, whatever happens.

  8. Seems it's about pensions.

BMW staff vote 'overwhelmingly' to strike over pensions changes

  9. What's a pension? Where do I go to strike to get mine?

  10. Don't you work for the public sector/any organisation that the taxpayer funds that can never have enough resources but takes no responsibility for their actions and even worse is not accountable for them? ?
Haven't you got a gang of bullies led by crooks that claim to represent your members but in actual fact put got a gun to to the head of their employers at every opportunity and make their customers,(generally the taxpayer),pay?
Don't you wear a publicly-funded uniform/are you not constantly lauded by the Media for doing your job/do you not have the right background and regardless of your lack of intelligence or ability you have somehow floated into the boardroom or at least senior management? Not even a wig and gown, and the brazen neck to talk down to others who can see right through your bloody rubbish?
You haven't got a job in the media? Ideally one where the taxpayer is legally bound to pay you to spout your bias and propaganda?
Well...if you are none of the above, and you haven't managed to mislead the voters in your constituency to elect you,or you've got no elected friends who will put you into the other place for doing them,"favours",like walking their dog or feeding the cat?
    ...
    ...then you are fucked,mate.
Welcome to the world of the majority.

  11. My understanding is that it ISN'T about removing pensions but changing them from a lump sum end of service pension to a standard pension.

It doesn't change however that unite will go out of it's way to run down the U.K. through train. air and production through as many strikes as they can get away with.

  12. Its worse than that. I'm self-employed.
