British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. You can put any spin you like on it Loz. I repeat 61.1% of those eligible to vote did not vote to leave the EU. Fact.

  3. I think you'll find that the percentage of people who didn't vote to remain in the EU was slightly higher ;)

  7. People can spin the result as much as they like. The fact remains a clear majority voted to leave and that's the end of it.
If you really want voting statistics to chew over try this: Of the under thirty age group who claim us old people have "stolen" "their" future, only 35% bothered to vote. The turnout for older generations was double that. A survey at Glastonbury revealed that hardly any of the youthful revellers had bothered to sort out a postal vote for themselves, preferring to get pissed in a field rather than play a part in the democratic process, yet they still felt entitled to cry into their cider when the result didn't go "their" way.
You need to get real kids. Put down your devices and start engaging with the real world as it actually is, not as your social media echo chamber tells you it is..

  8. I don't know what to think at the moment if I'm honest.

I didn't vote because of immigration or to stick it to Cameron and his chums

I voted to bring back some sovereignty to British soil.

What i didn't expect was everybody in power to effectively wash there hands of the job no matter the outcome, and as it stands, I'm not convinced we have anybody who can negotiate the exit properly.

My best guess at this stage would be Theresa may although she was more remain than anything....... so its unlikely she'll win unfortunately

Boris is a clown, Farage is too prickly and frankly at times without the 'ly'

Im not ashamed of the British people for voting leave in the slightest, why should we be ashamed as in my mind its not about racism or xenophobia. Its about the EU relinquishing its grip on the member countries, thats what every member state really wants but they're stuck in the circle.

I am however ashamed of our politicians and thats not going to go away no matter what happens from the exit or not.

Obviously Cameron and Osborne could have done far more early on in the result announcement to steady the ship, but they didn't and therefore failed.

Then you have opportunist Labour MP's honestly thinking now is the best time to start a coup....... what the hell are they thinking?

Its a fucking mess the whole thing and it didn't need to have been.

Im no politician but i can't fathom why we didn't have any solid plan.

    You call a referendum

You plan for a remain vote

You plan for a leave vote

Whichever happens you implement either plan the day after the vote

None of these people would be in a job if they worked for a corporate ....none

  9. Ripe for invasion at the moment. Just need the Queen to abdicate....

Very, very disappointed at Cameron for lack of a plan, Labour for falling apart at the seems and the Conservative outers. Where are the people for the job now at hand. Feel we need some real strength of character to be shown.
Seems that as soon as things get tough we just throw in the towel.

  10. Boris is stuffed well and truly..........If he becomes PM and implements Article 50 he is stuffed; if he doesn't implement it, he is stuffed; and he is stuffed if he doesn't become PM.

That's why Cameron has walked away.........he didn't want to be called the worst PM ever, so he has handed it to Boris to get on with it............but unfortunately for Cameron will be blamed because he implemented the referendum.

Another few cases of the lack of judgement causing things not being thought through to conclusion.....Where do the effing useless twats come from?

  11. v.telling listening to lord Forsyth this morning saying they didnt need a plan and will go article 50 at a time of their choosing even more telling was his statement (deflection) sturgion should concentrate on improving the diabolical education standards in Scotland (despite pretty much every study stating they are doing a better job than westminster) rather than explore all the options of a brexit. wtf?
how to make friends and influence people eh?

  12. Probably because no one expected a Leave vote and in any case the job of extricating the country from the EU is massively complex, massively expensive and there is a good chance the United Kingdom will fall apart in the meantime.

I'm not even sure Boris wanted this to happen, he just saw a chance to weaken Cameron and hopefully take control after a very close Remain vote. Bear in mind he only decided to side with leave a couple of weeks before the vote. Now he has been left with an almighty job to handle and he is already talking in compromise terms.

  13. I even wonder if anyone will sign Article 50 before the next election is due in 4 years time. That gives everyone a get out clause.

  14. Bless your coton socks young Fin:smileys:

  15. Gutless,unprincipled and elitist.
    But please don't generalise.
    It's not "we",it's,"them".
This is what you get when politicians and the media form a little circle of backslappers to decide what is best for the country.
And this is what we get when we don't accept what they think is good for us.
The EU was the pinnacle of their plans,so don't expect them to go without giving us a good kicking on the way out.
They'll already be knee deep in traitorous schemes to make sure they keep their arses in the comfy seats, their feet under the table, and their noses deep in the trough.
I doubt if any of them have a single thought for the man in the street,it's all just acting.

  16. You are not a political lightweight, brother.Your vote, and opinion,is just as valid as anyone elses, whether they contribute to this thread or not.
You have made up your mind on the basis of what you believe to be true, your experiences, and your situation, and if you voted,(doesn't matter which way),then you did your duty to the Country as far as you could.

  17. In Scotland the colour of the political map shows quite plainly where the allegiance lies. The indi ref showed that there is a secondary allegiance to the UK as a whole. I'm Scottish and proud of that but I like being part of the UK as a whole. I have little time for the seemingly shallow and duplicitous politics of Westminster but they are part of the price I pay for my stance. I didn't vote leave but, by the same token, it was nice to see the British people give Westminster a firm boot in the bollocks.

  18. thats cool. :upyeah: thats your right :smileys:

  19. And these were the people running our country is it no wonder people have voted out
The whole government needs a shake up that they serve the people not themselves

Shows the whole circus for what it is and these are the reasons I voted out

You would have thought that Cameron and his party would have had some sort of leave plan just incase

While you close your eyes and your ears your soul is being sold to the highest bidder under your nose
This I didn't want for my children I want them free to be able to make decisions to make a choice and to do the right thing because it's not all about them

  20. And you think that the "UK establishment" that led the Leave campaign will be any better and less self serving than the EU establishment?

    Interesting. :)
