British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. But would she want it?

As far as the thread goes, now article 50 has been launched, all 4 nations of the U.K. are leaving the european project, lovely jubbly

  2. No, but she'd like it

  3. OK, I rammed my facepalm (I think so - not sure how that is meant to work?).

    Now what?

  4. I haven't looked into GERS for the same reason I haven't read any Harry Potter books. They are works of fiction and fantasy.

I am with John here in that figures lie but motivations do not. The GERS figures are meant to promote an agenda rather than report a reality. If there are poorer parts of Scotchland, they are there for the same reasons that there are poorer parts in Engerland. People just aren't working hard enough there :Hilarious:

No but seriously, people create prosperity. Governments can nibble around the edges of that but short of turning totalitarian on communities, they cannot prevent some form of wealth being generated by local folk. I suppose draconian, punitive taxation, both direct and indirect, might stifle wealth creation - does anyone (apart from Lightning and Gimlet :D ) feel that taxation in this country is sufficiently draconian, in this respect?

  5. i aint watching the burd. but she is probably quoting the fraser of allan report on the economy.
the same organization are predicting up to 80,000 (times that 11 to put it into perspective)Scottish jobs are at risk and 2k a year drop in wages from brexit.

  6. i see there's a bit of debunking going on this morning, debunk this. and bearing in mind our exports and inward investment growth has waaaaay out striped yours over the last few years (i bet the burd didn't mention that) any supposed down turn cant be you know who's fault. theres been a slight difference to income tax laws since then i think.

  7. Although it rather confirms my three monkey approach I'm rather saddened a man who claims to know more than most, refuses to see all sides.

Fin it's almost king syndrome to say no I refuse to see other information but here is a link I want you all to see, surely the best way forward is see as much as possible? The "burd" was on BBC Scotland, not BBC tories at westminster and there were some quite quotable people on it.

At the moment all you've done is say I don't believe them so I won't watch them but it must be bad so I will ignore this weeks figures also and your come back is? Look at this personal blog from 6 months ago. There are none as blind as those who will not see.

Most I suspect will watch the BBC video AND read wings over Summerzet. It would seem by quotes that most are open to all views even if we may disagree with some and others will simply stay on a blinkered path with closed minds, ears and eyes.

The hidden £7.2bn the UK sends the EU – That's Rich

"So what does this mean for our overall contribution?

    Fullfact.org said that in 2016:

    • The UK paid £13.1 billion to the EU budget, after the rebate had been applied
    • Spending by the EU in the UK was £4.5 billion
    • Therefore the net contribution was £8.6 billion
We now know that, if it’s not already included in the figures, the net contribution must actually be £8.6 billion + £7.2 billion = £15.8 billion

Do you remember the pedantry from Remain campaigners about the red bus? They said that because the rebate is applied up front rather than being sent away and refunded, we technically don’t send £350 million a week to the EU. Well, if this isn’t already included in the figures then they were right. We don’t send £350 million a week.

We sent £385 million a week.

That’s after the rebate has been deducted. That would literally mean we sent the EU more than the Vote Leave bus claimed.

I understand why the Remain campaign would avoid mentioning this (in what I would call a lie by omission), but why on Earth weren’t the Leave campaign yelling from the rooftops about it?

Is there a reason it shouldn’t be included in the figures? Is it already included in the original amounts? I can’t find it mentioned anywhere. Share this article far and wide and let’s get to the bottom of it, because on the evidence so far it looks like we’ve been being lied to about one of the most important aspects of the referendum campaign".
