British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.

  3. Apparently, listening to Blair, Campbell, Clegg et al, people didn't know what they were voting for, and it wasn't clear that we would leave the single market.

To be fair, watching the video below, it's not clear. See what you think.

  4. I try to avoid these forum Wars since I love you guys for your Ducatis rather than your political views but FFS; you just compared the market in Zimbabwe to the EU?!

  5. I think it was in reply to 749er's comment, Incidentally, how many more jaguars do you think we will be selling to Zimbabwe post Brexit?

The reply was that zimbabwe is changing as are we and both now will be able to deal with each other without the eu's permission

  6. Yes but Clogg says not everyone in the country watched the programs and they should have told everyone - twat...

  7. Ah ok i took you out of context.

  8. it’s quite a reasonable argument. Someone a few pages ago posted the poll showing a bunch of people who didn’t vote last year were now voting leave?

  9. Thanks for clearing that up David :)

  11. No worries, post 272 is the full context.

The voted one way voted a different now runs along the other claim in that 10 years time a lot of brexiteers will be dead so the young remainers will push for another vote to go back in.

Sounds okay in theory until you realise that a lot of remainers are young and idealistic and have fuck all but in 10 years will have something including different views.

It's an interesting thought but two things spring to mind, say 10 years after we should be ontop of our game again with brexit smoothed out and running so will we want to give those freedoms and positives up? secondly, there seems to be a lot of uncertainty as to whether the eu will still be around and if so in what state

  12. Ahhhhhh. Cheers for clearing that up Hexie. :) It wasn't clear from watching Cameroon.

  15. What I found interesting on Camerons speech on that video, this was before the actual vote day so we were in the eu as we had been for decades. Now in the top left it showed the ftse 100 at 6,271.89 whilst we were in, now we are leaving, the ftse top 100 stands today at 7,724.22. That is a 20% plus increase despite being told by some of the city, imf, ecb, bank of england and the chancellor, that it would get worse. Funny old game

  16. Yes but you're forgetting they changed the 20% rise as a remain statistic saying the money of the FTSE 100 was not in the UK so was a bad sign and we should look at the FTSE 250 - and oops, that went up too - oops  oops, :yum

  17. I do know what I am talking about.

Every thing we buy has a CE mark. That’s a European quality mark that says the product meets European standards.

Post Brexit we either stay with the European regulatory framework and get the benefits of economy of scale that was brought by the free movement of goods (and services in relation to banking and the city of London) or we don’t.

If we do then what’s the point of leaving because we can no longer influence those standards. In my industry, every European norm has been heavily based on British Standards. That’s how much influence we have in my industry at least.

If we step away from it to make our own laws. Everything will become much more expensive because BMW will now need to make a different version for the U.K. and there will be no european law preventing them for charging more. Similarly U.K. companies will have the cost of having to make different versions for Europe. That all costs money. Managing larger inventories alone costs more money. Manufacturers hate it.

So there are a couple of simple reasons why it is a bad idea, and why it will be more expensive and why I know for a fact that one or the other will happen. If you deny that then you need to get your head out of the sand. Capische?
