Yes. We are a people that used to be respected in the world and stood for what was right. We are now a low quality, low cost country where Love Island means more than engineering, commercial and entreprenurial skills. We are truly fucked!
I do feel we are still a country that many look upto but yes, social media has done a lot of dumbing down as has smart phones but I doubt we are the only country experiencing our young more likely to have a degree in media or gender studies than engineering. I mentioned the other week more people applied to Love Island than Cambridge and Oxford universities combined.
This government under May has been a complete and utter disaster, at all times muddled in their purpose, often staffed by spineless, incompetent ministers who are openly two faced. I don't often agree with Davis but he obviously has principles which is refreshing to see. Nothing good will happen until Mayhem is removed from office, the sooner the better.
I wish you were right Noobie, but this has been happening over the last 40 years. I work closely with my German colleagues and can honestly say that that their apprentice schemes are years in front of ours. And nations are measured on what they produce.......and we fall further and further behind....
Why is 82% of this global economy outside the EU then? And why is the EU's paltry 18% of global economic activity declining and has been at a steady and continuous rate for 25 years?
I agree on the apprenticeships but many of the "trades" have disappeared as our country moves more into being tech leaders rather than grunt engines. Germany was always going to benefit better as the whole of the eu project was geared up to keep Germany at the top and little more than a German vehicle for their industry. They have issues though, one of the biggest polluters of coal fired energy in europe after Poland. They have failed environmental standards year after year because of this.
The Parliamentry under secretary of state for exiting the european union, Steve Baker has also just resigned.
You clearly have no experience of work in a productive (ie making things and ideas) role. When I say “apprenticeships” I cover everything from engineering to software development. We suffer from a culture where great ideas are born, but developed commercially by other countries. We are one of the most creative countries on earth but are sold short by our politicians and inteligencia. This is perpetuated to this day (Rees Mog is a prime example) where skill with words is held in higher esteem than skill with stuff (something that our EU colleagues have got over). WTF with Poland?
From investor and city sources an October election is being talked about. Expect the pound to plummet.

Which means we will be told how great our exports are doing 24/7. The reality will be that we have less ability to pay for essential imports and worse our debts held by foriegn enterprises will become ever harder to repay.
Suella Baverman the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at Department for Exiting the European Union, is reported that she has now also resigned.
