British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. I could claim similarly, finderman. If Maybot somehow gets her Remain deal, or we revert to our original membership of the EU, it will no longer be my government either.

However, saying that the UK government isn't your government does not make it so. You'll need more than harsh words, with or without a funny accent, for that.

Anyway, Leavers voted to leave, they didn't vote for "a deal". If we leave on WTO terms, that's fine. If we leave on better trading terms, even better. If we leave with strings attached and are legally controlled by the EU ... we haven't left. Even someone such as yourself should be able to figure that out.

  2. Who do you mean by “us”

Don’t you meant the paying the same tax and NI as everyone else doing the same job?

  5. You don’t know anything of Irish history do you?

    Why should Ireland trust Britain?

Pick any film on the subject if you don’t want to read a book.

Try “in the name of the father”

  6. I haven’t known / cared who to vote for in a general or local election for years.
Doesn’t seem to make any difference who is running ( :) ) the country.

I find this whole EU thing interesting, don’t know why.

  10. If you do not know what the EU truly represents, much of the Leaver argument will pass several feet above your head. That's fine, not everyone can do politics.

And as you know, I have not been a fan of Government for a very long time. They have their fingers in too many pies for it to be healthy for a civilisation. Too late for the UK, of course. Looking too late for the USA, too. Both countries f'd in the long run. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and Corbyn.

  11. i think you have it arse over elbow loz. yer mopping up the water without bothering to fix the roof. you lack the skills to convince me otherwise....:p
the EU being the drip, the gov being the roof.

  12. Silly finderman. The EU is the government.

Or did you think that the Houses of Parliament and Holyoaks oop Norf are full of MPs and not actors. Ya daft bugga.

  13. I think most of the things that are wrong with this country have been caused by one government or another, not the EU.

But being part of the EU won’t fix anything, if we leave then doesn’t our government become more accountable ? ie they can’t blame anything on the EU for a start.

  15. plenty in Britain know the republic hid terrorists in the same way pakistan hid osama but you know what, most people see the "people" of ireland as good people and it's with that, most of us want to move forward not backwards.

  17. Although with good reason, the tories still blame labour for austerity and if labour got in, would blame the tories. More than anything however though, people are more involved in politics and whatever your flavour of party, that is a good thing which can be attributed to brexit.

Having one less group to blame will help, not in the short run but definitely the long run. What it will do is give any government the ability to act quicker knowing it should be where the buck stops. Our politicians will have to learn that and up their game.

  18. If you knew anything about Ireland you would know you can’t use the phrase “the people”

The general public don’t make policy

  19. As proved with the brexit vote and the good friday agreement, the people can change the direction
