British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. You’ve no idea why use those books or why I keep them at home.

There’s also a photo of a screenshot of just one electronic subscription to authority on various areas of “EU Law” that I could call upon to help Noobie, if he wished.

The photo was a handy snapshot for Noobie as I walked out of the room since whatever is put to him, no matter how reasoned or by whom, Noobie often replies in utter ignorance.

  7. I think if the Good Friday Agreement doesn’t stop us leaving they will just have to look harder and find something else to stop it.

  8. C’mon @noobie.

Those with an interest in the subject will be waiting to hear you substantiate your views on:

    1. “Defacto Laws” governing the NI withdrawal from the EU.

    2. The GFA being used as a bargaining chip.

    3. The proposal to use the Dartford Crossing camera system for UK border control.

I’m particularly interested in item No.3 as I’ve no knowledge of number plate recognition systems at all and I’d be fascinated to hear how this would work and satisfy the UK’s border requirements & obligations.

  9. The EU doesn’t need to look harder. It’s a problem specific to the UK.

  10. I guarantee you, if the UK Government had at any point been serious about enacting Brexit, we wouldn't be discussing the GFA at this point. That issue would have been long settled.

  13. Fair enough.

What I mean is they WILL find a reason to not leave the EU, because they don’t want to, regardless of the last referendum and if we had another referendum that was 100% leave they will still find a way to stay.

  14. Don't expect globalist-Remainders to get upset about what setting aside the Brexit referendum result means for UK democracy in the future.

If democracy was in any way important to them ... they would be globalists and Remainders.

I just wish the Scottish had voted in favour of Indy in 2014 ... when *that* result got set aside, there would have been some fun. Fer sher.

  15. D
    Soooo???

  16. So ... the EU is not a signatory of the GFA.

I know this means something but after all the diverts and deflections, I'm damned if I can remember what that is.

  18. They being the UK Govn’t?

The referendum presented a million false choices.

I think it’s practically impossible for the UK to leave on its current terms.

Two years ago I shook hands with a colleague on a £1000 bet that the current article 50 notification would be withdrawn.

It seems to me that even to get this far is little short of a miracle as far as the pressures put upon Whitehall, civil service etc.

And this is just for the withdrawal agreement.

  19. I think you’re right the UK (?) government didn’t want Scotland to leave and if they had voted to leave I’m sure they would have found a way to stop it.

I do wonder about ‘what’s the correct number of countries to have in a union’

Some in Scotland want independence from the rest of the UK but want to be in the EU ?
Probably the same can be said of Wales and Ireland ?

  20. The reason is in there fin

A number pointed out that the eu was using the irish situation a legal agreement they are not even party too, for little more than to either halt brexit at best for them or at least advance their own commercial reasons.

They honestly do not give a rats arse for the agreement for its originality

This morning, even the man with the books has confirmed, the gfa was not even an agreement that has the eu listed as a party to the agreement. It's very easy to follow
