British Indy: What Happens Now?

Discussion in 'Wasteland' started by Loz, May 23, 2015.

?
  1. Full Brexit with "no EU deal" on the 29th March.

  2. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a general election and new negotiations.

  3. Request Extension to article 50 to allow cross party talks and a new deal to be put to EU.

  4. Request Extension to article 50 to allow a second referendum on 1. Remain in EU or 2. Full Brexit.

  5. Table a motion in parliament to Remain in EU WITHOUT a referendum.

  6. I don't know or I don't care anymore

Results are only viewable after voting.
  1. In the first past the post system, people vote for individual candidates to become their MP.
When someone becomes an MP, they then undertake to represent the whole of their electorate, not just those who voted for them.
They do not say yah boo sucks, I got voted in by tories and I’m a Tory, so tough luck the rest of you, you are not going to be represented in Parliament.

  2. Appalling system. Someone who 70% of the voters in the seat don't want can win it. Primitive stuff.

  3. How do you square that circle when it comes to a 3 line whip.

    TB

  4. Iirc, they allegedly eventually allowed them to be imported but they each had to checked through in a customs facility somewhere high up an alpine pass lol

  5. Indeed. I make no claim that party politics is the way to go, just pointing out that first past the post does not theoretically leave the section of the electorate that did not vote for a particular MP totally disenfranchised.

  6. Sorry fin, it's an obvious lie and I underline the dna truth, either that or the cornish side has escaped

As I mentioned earlier, we have mp's having been elected on the exact same percentage as the second place person and only 2 votes between them and dare I sat had the remainers won by 3.6%, they would be all over "the democratic majority have spoken"

  7. your right, i would never vote tory.

  8. Do you mean if there are a few candidates one can win with only 30% of the vote, the rest being split over the say 4 candidates ?

( Hope that’s right - or I’m even more stupid than I thought)

  9. Piece of piss when you only have 5.4 million to worry about (just don't mention the health of education standards)

Far more difficult with a population of 66 million and some chuntering northern nuggets wanting to sabotage you every 5 minutes whilst pretending they haven't tried to overturn their own peoples democratic independence vote themselves

Big fish in a small pond does not make big fish in a big pond.

  10. Holding back and keeping their powder dry.
They want a GE and power

  11. Not sure they would win a GE.
Assuming we are talking about Labour, they just seem to say we will make it all lovely, without saying how.

  12. Corbyn has no political brains and he is a puppet of the unions and momentum.

I would imagine someone has said, just do enough to call yourself the opposition but it will be better for labour if the tories fall on their own sword rather than Labour pushing them on it.

Reason being is they will have to appear nice afterwards as selling Corbyn as a pm is a task no one see's as easy. Even in this mess, May is still polling 20% higher than corbyn.

  13. i know, the free higher education drives some bonkers. and health is deffo an area you dont want to go to :upyeah:

  14. So the current wankers who have trebled the National debt to more than Two Trillion are a better choice?
    http://www.nationaldebtclock.co.uk/

Labour would find it difficult to spend more than these idiots, who achieve nothing and provide minimal services! I hope your children & grandchildren won't mind that you voted and supported a shite government that let the countries infastructure fall apart.

Conservatives (currently) don't work at all!
