Bsb - Are They Taking The Piss Out Of Riders?

  1. It’s a model based on internship and amateur racing. And I’m now getting to the opinion it is taking the piss!!
     
  2. The Eddie Roberts on that list went on to run Complog the company that Hayden worked for supplying and fitting tyres at BSB and WSB etc. but under the Pirelli brand name.

    so how does it get changed? I guess it doesn’t right? Palmer has the Uk tracks and the sport by the balls
     
  4. I don’t think you could change it. The sport doesn’t have the interest it used to nor the money within it.
     
  5. I disagree, helicopters and champagne lifestyles aren't cheap. There is money in BSB but it's all with the organisers and the tracks, all in Jonathan Palmers hands as MSV and MSVR. It could change overnight if teams stopped performing foc and funding it all for the fun of it. It would be a very small grid if only the factory supported teams competed, the whole thing is a sham.

  6. Just can’t see it myself. Why would JP bother with it if it wasn’t making him good money.

    He had a chopper before msv became a thing.

    this is not just bsb. It’s all motorsport.
     
  7. I can't find up to date figures but in 2009 a total of 368,000 spectators attended that years rounds with a further 8,000,000 watching on TV. Let's assume that figure will drop due to covid but surely they can expect 250,000 through the gates this year at least. Assume again an average ticket price of £30 and that gives gate receipts of £7,500,000 surely as a worst case scenario. That will be topped up by a title sponsor for the entire Championship and every vendor from the food stalls to the trade stands will have to pay for their pitch and unless things have changed the teams will pay entry fees to race. I know it won't be all champagne and blowjobs for MSVR and they will have some hefty expenses, and I don't begrudge the man a tidy profit, but I smell fish.

  10. No problem, I'm sure there are plenty out there who don't agree with me and at the end of the day it's only money and the good Lord must despise money because look at the arse holes he gives it to. :upyeah:

  14. When I looked at doing trioptions it was about twice the cost of 100ron at shell and there were rules about not using previous meeting fuel iirc

  15. What a lot of people do is run the can down a bit and then fill it with v power.

    it still passes dip tests… so I’m told

  16. In the 2022 regulations for the TriOptions Cup, the nominated fuel supplier’s pre set price is £79 for 25 litres. Twice the price/litre of 97RON :scream: I couldn’t find any additional conditions on fuel in the rules other than you must use the nominated fuel supplier. Andy
     
  17. Only in the highest echelons of motorsport is there any money for the ones actually putting their necks on the line. And BSB or British racing as a whole is seen as the place to be to get the leg up to those levels. Senna, Stoner to name a couple, then in bike racing its off to the domestic scene in Spain to get noticed and picked up to get into GP racing (Bradley Smith?)
     
  18. Depends what class of racing you want to get into but road bike based racing is more or less a dead end regards getting into Moto GP but BSB is good stepping stone into WSB. Once into WSB though your chances of a GP ride are very slim no matter how good you are. Foggy had a go but Jonathan Rea doesn't seem to get a sniff. Though the usual way out of WSB is retirement or a couple of sunset seasons back in BSB. The route to the GPS is through the Spanish Championships starting as a very young kid and being bloody quick.
    I remember Casey Stoner coming over here in 2000 I think to race in the Aprilia Superteen Cup, he had won everything that he could in Australia off road but the story was his folks sold everything they had finance his racing over here. We did the series finishing 10th I think but the opposition included Stoner, Chaz Davies, Camier, Cal Crutchlow, Craig Jones and an awful lot of talented kids. Everybody else was really racing for 2nd place, Stoner was in a different league.

  19. Well there was the small window during the cross over from 500’s to the 990’s that the GP paddock looked to WSBK but it didn’t last once the lower classes moved up to 4 stroke.
