To go fast needs lots of laps. Won races, been knocked out, lots bits of bike and thoroughly had a ball there many, many times.
Don’t agree with a lot of this, regardless of it being narrow hey always use all of the track and could just as easy drop onto the grass on any circuit. Personally I love Cadwell, best track ive ridden in the Uk.
I enjoyed it there, it's super challenging, I personally just hate the mountain, it's cool watching decent people ride it but personally for me it's such a tricky section you almost spend the 5 corners before it dreading it, I'm sure when you go there more and more it gets a lot easier! When I was there tbf it was on my 899 and it was super windy, as you go down the back 'straight' up on to the hill it was like the wind was going to blow my head off!
First place I ever rode a Ducati, a 748 on a Ducati experience day but the clubmans circuit so no mountain. I did do some classic racing around there up and over the mountain, pretty much flat out everywhere on the 50cc the first time until the plug melted... One of my favourite tracks
I still think Cadwell is easier to get wrong than most tracks in the UK, it's definitely the narrowest, it must be 2ft narrower even than Oulton, on top of this, nothing is a straight, there isn't a single corner that's a straight into a simple corner, and I think that means it's just so easy to get it wrong very quickly. It's a challenge for sure, and I did find it interesting that someone posted that BSB aren't lapping faster than they used to, or not by much, because while I get there will be a point where you don't need MORE power, the tyre, brake and suspension technology has come on so far in the last 15 years I'm still shocked.
Hitting that grass at 30 on the throttle would still chuck you off, doesn’t have to be BSB speeds. They are always going to be white line to white line on any track so it’s the same risk regardless of it being narrower.
Not really no. On exit of every 'sketchy' corner on proper GP tracks there is either a run-off or a curb.
That's a first or second gear crash. Ran out of room, dropped a wheel on the grass. Always a risk but riders know what they are getting into. If it was any more risky than any other circuit then riders would say so. Personally I love Cadwell and I'm perfectly comfortable pushing around there as I know that measures to mitigate the carnage when crashes happen are in place, plus kit is pretty good these days. Full gas that's what I say, doesn't matter if it's a GP track or a Park circuit.
there has been hundred examples of tracks being rebuilt because riders/drivers complained about safety issues. in Europe and World Wide. No idea why this is not happening in the UK.
That's my point, I have never heard a single rider in the paddock at the British complain about circuit safety therefore things probably won't change at places like Cadwell. Perhaps riders vote with their feet and if able they move up and away from the domestic paddock if they feel things are unsafe. Or they give up racing. WSBK and GP run at circuits with arguably safer run offs etc but then the machinery has the potential to require it.
