Surprises me about brookes after the season he has had. although he’s obviously a class act, and maybe Birdy has mellowed as he’s getting older ?
I agree, any other team and I would have not been surprised to see him staying as he really is a class act. However Birdy is really well known for not talking to riders anymore if they get a 2nd/3rd or make an error, so yes he must have mellowed.... Or..... Brookes has been part of bringing in a new sponsor as I imagine Visiontrack are spending less with Birdy next year as they have to sponsor the new Moto3 team
Sykes back to BSB is a mistake imho. He should retire from top tier snd find something else to do. And on the basis of yesterday’s tv work I’m not sure that’s the direction of travel. Same with Haslam.
Shakey did well stopping him from throw all of his toys out the pram not just some of them. Irritated me when he said he'd fight to the death in that silly warn up show/interview they did too. Sorry to say but talent beats melodrama every day my little lover.
I can see why Haslam might come back, maybe on a Honda or maybe on a PBM unless they are indeed signed. Haslam has recently ridden the UK tracks so would get back into it, and to some extent Jake Dixon would. But Tom Sykes, I don’t think he’d handle the relative lack of safety, a bit like Guinters, once you’ve been in worlds too long the UK tracks seem to be too hard to click with. If Mackenzie goes to worlds, I guess the best seat up for grabs is his Maccams seat, that’s where I imagine the fight is between Dixon, Haslam etc. I can actually see ohalloran going back to Honda though, I don’t know but I just got this feeling he sort of faded into the distance in the team over the last few rounds
I think some people underestimate how hard this is. How much pressure it is, physically and even more so mentally one of the reasons I stopped racing when I did was because of the mental bashing it was giving me and I was nothing like at these boys level.
A bit difficult for Sykes on TV as he is still with BMW to the end of the season I guess, and doesn't know (or hasn't announced) what he will be doing next year, so difficult to answer Charlie Hiscott's questions 'That bike doesn't handle does it?', 'Why is the Honda rubbish?'. and 'That blokes a shitbag, isn't he?', etc. I did think he would be a bit more forthcoming on the technical side, but the same may apply. On WSBK, glad to hear Toseland called Greg Haines a 'twat' during live commentary after one of his usually inane comments. I thought I'd misheard it so replayed that bit, and am sure he did!
I do wonder why the older Mac is giving up. He seems not quite at same level but certainly close enough to be a top-10 rider. Guessing it comes down to being paid: which most aren’t.
Just watched the highlights show with a great collection of the ups and downs at the end. Nice to see and hear Brad Jones doing a quick interview as well.
Personally I don’t see anything wrong with bridewells comments! They are true and at least he’s one of the very few guys that say it like it is! I also think the showdown is the worse thing to ever happen in BSB! No other championship use this system and for good reason it’s unfair imo,I think Higgs is a complete clown! And you wonder why O,Hallorans chin was on the floor! Just my opinion
