I hear you on the screen brightness issue, the older Garmins were like this too. I'll have to cope. As to overheating, I haven't had that issue, was hot in Germany last year and my Android phone didn't miss a beat. Maybe it's an iPhone problem? See you there. Might be forced to eat my words on the overheating issue if the South of France is proper hot. We'll see.
No, buy the CarPlay interphone thing, test it out, save me the bother and let us know your verdict. Just keep your phone tucked away.
A separate dedicated panel, that wirelessly connects to one's phone, seems to be the way to go. MRA knocks spots off of both Garmin and TomTom from my experience. Have been a Garmin evangelist for many years, no longer the case. Regrettably the Android Auto panel that I tried recently didn't work out, was returned for a refund. Will try an alternative, after even more research, once back from the EMM. Seems that some are developed with Apple CarPlay in mind, Android Auto being an afterthought. Certainly the case with the one I ordered where the scaling meant everything was tiny to the point of being useless on the move. Was fine on my GF's iPhone.
Just seen this posted on the KTM forum I linked to. I have just fitted a Maxca 6X, running AA and its great so far. Biggest problem I had was that most 6" units have a res of 1560 and it makes AA very small, as in print and buttons. The Maxca is 1280
Thanks, will have a look at that once I'm back from the EMM AA does offer some scaling if you put your phone setting menu into developer mode. However, I believe this relies on the panel manufacturer allowing this. The Evkey 200 didn't. .
I also had issues of overheating with my iPhone and MRA in the car using CarPlay in Utah. Low power mode, reduced screen brightness and taking the case off helped but this was in an air conditioned car
I used to rock the Quad Lock for inner city riding and my Zumo XT but after I started using fold phones, it's either trust a universal mount or no chance. Currently on the Samsung Fold 5 and in tablet mode it would be great mounted on the bars for navigation. Overkill for sure, but we're a Ducatasti... If I need navigation, I use the XT and honestly love it. Especially for it's trip generator.
