Cal Ducati rider 14 - 15

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by kope999R, Aug 1, 2013.

  1. We can speculate all we like about Cal, about the Ducati, about Audi's master plan etc.

    Time will tell.

  2. I only hope Cal's got the time, cos he ain't gonna do shit on the red bike:frown:

  3. Point is somebody has got to ride it and who ever it may be when that first pole comes and/or race win will be a Ducatisti hero.

its like pass the parcel, the music will eventually stop with a rider and something good will come of it, you've gotta be in it to win it and I think Cal has as good a chance as any really.

The good thing about Cal is that he's not scared of a crash then getting back on, with his stubborn streak I just feel he may always push that tiny bit more than Dovi or whatever team mate and that extra bit could help.

we'll see, good luck to him anyway

  4. It's all immaterial anyway. We're making it sound like he had a choice...he didn't.

  5. Eh?

    what are you watching?

Dovi regularly out qualifies VR on his beloved Yamaha, so yes, I can see Cal doing better than Rossi.

  6. in which case do you believe he should have Rossis bike?

that is the only way he could win a championship.

Unfortunlately, being talented counts less than being a top t shirt salesman. That is racing these days. It's all about the money.

  7. Yes he should have Rossi's bike.
VR will almost certainly not be World Champ again,as good as he still is.
If right was right he'd retire gracefully at the end of the year, because the best he can hope for next year will be third overall behind a Marquez/Lorenzo shitfight,(assuming Marquez doesn't bin it big-style and hurt himself, of course)
Cal has done enough to deserve a chance on a works bike
And if he wins on a Duke he'll sell an awful lot of shirts in the UK........

  8. I don't think winning MotoGP races is about selling shirts

  9. You're talking bollocks again 749er. So Dovi has outqualified Rossi - good for him - but how many times has he finished ahead of him? Eh?

Cal will finish further down the pecking order next year than he will this year. Do you want a pint on it?

  10. now rossi has sorted some of his front end probs dovi and cal will be nowhere near.

  11. Cals got the ducati ride, nicely done and a few quid in his pocket with a chance to get the bike right for him. However.......................2015 Suzuki GP team and southern hemisphere drums are banging out a rocky rhythm

  12. Article now on homepage

  13. Surely the question is, will he finish further down the pecking order in 2015 than he will this year? We just don't know. If the red bike doesn't evolve or change, the answer is likely to be yes. But as you pointed out, he didn't have a whole lot of choice in the decision, so there is really nothing to be annoyed about. It may turn out to be the best thing that ever happened. It may not. But that is the roll of the dice.

  14. So what about the Honda that Johnny Rae is getting? According to Jonathon Green (?) on the Wsbk commentary?

  15. Isn't Jonny Rea's Honda going to be one of the customer RCV's run out of Gresini or someone like that?

  16. I don't keep bang up to date with all things motogp, but from what has been said on the telly it sounds like Bradl will be moving on at the end of the season. Is this the case, and wouldn't that be an obvious seat for Rea?

  17. I thought Bradl was under contract until the end of 2014

  18. At the last couple of gp's Steve Parrish has made mention of Bradl having to ride hard to keep his seat for 2014. If Charlie Cox had said it I'd have ignored it.

  19.

  20. i d be surprised if Rea would go from a sub top wsbk effort straight to motogp... a couple of tests perhaps... there is ample talent within moto2 to take those places..

briljant ride from him at Silverstone though!
