  2. I don’t mind leaving myself open to a bit of ridicule. I can take it.

i had a series 11a SWB and and Series 3 LWB then a 1979 Range Rover. Clutch hydraulics failed on all of them.
So would go down the dealers and pay £3.50 for a new seal kit, go home, take it
All apart, clean up the master and slave cylinder’s then rebuild them. Today I have a Freelander 2 but I doubt it is so
Easy to work on or have parts that serviceable.

    I am in Ayrshire

  3. must admit to having a bit of a lust for a 1967 Sunbeam Tiger. You have to
Wonder how hard they had to work
    To make a 4.3litre V8 produce only 160BHP.

  4. Ha, yep there were 2 of those there too. Very nice.
Dewy eyed nostalgia aside, it’s important to remember that they drive like 1967 cars too. Like no brakes, flat as farts and shocking reliability

  5. my best mans bro has restored and rebuilt the same Sunbeam Tiger several times. restore, hill clime, bend and rebuild. i wouldn't be surprised if he is holding the record for writing off the most MG's in the uk either. Sacked from BA he is one of the reasons i dont fly the reckless fugger that he is. it's a good job they tend to truly believe in reincarnation on the Indian continent or he would never have flown again. chortle.
the first clutch i replaced was on a V8 Daimler Dart. that learnt me pronto not to be a smart arsed know it all teenager. and Land Rovers Suck. they're all a bit too Heath Robinson for me.

  6. America have the knack of building muhasive engines that couldn’t pull yer cock straight. Look no further than Harley Davidson. And I do like to remind chest beating yanks I meet that Harley Davidson are British… kind of… Harley’s dad was from Liverpool and Davidson’s dad was from Aberdeen. Pub ammo, love it :D

  7. we restored a 6ltr? Jenson interceptor at a garage i worked for back in the day. warra disappointment. not only was it the slowest thing in slow town, the fugger we restored is for had in trimmed out and pinstriped in a new tartan he had designed. it looked gad awful.

  8. The purists would hate this but the sensible thing to do would be to buy a Sunbeam Alpine which looks the same but costs about 30% of a Tiger and put a MR2 Mark2 Rev 3 turbo engine in it. Easy to get that to 300bhp and bullet proof too. Then sort the brakes and suspension. It wouldn’t have the V8 warble but would be ridiculously fast all the same: lighter too

  9. All am saying is Harley did the engine. Davidson did the frame. Chortle

  10. Or even better a Toyota V8, or Mazda V8, or Nissan V8, or if there is enough room a Chev LS V8.

  11. or a small capacity 5cyl engine. that's the engine note that does it for me. maybe 2.4ltr and supercharged. we keep joking about taking one (2ltr) out of a fiat i have, not my coupe and throwing it into my fiat dober. just for the craic.

  12. I worked in the US in 1984 and was supplied with a Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham by my employer.

    425cu in (7L) V8 and, I think it had a claimed 180bhp...

  13. That's interesting ..... and it set off some faint memory I had about the classic Indian Chief , V-Twin
with the gear shift on the left-hand side of the tank .

I was convinced that it was designed by a man from Northern England , called Brocklebank
but after trawling through t'interwebs today , I could not find any trace .

Are there any Indian afficianados / historians on here who know the details ?

  14. there's defiantly a Brocklebank out there. but he's from Aberdeenshire. Hector is his first name. of HB Fash.

  15. I had an Audi coupe with the 2litre 5 cylinder engine. It went well. Would have been better if it had 2.2l turbo though

  16. i've had a few. a 155 bravo. i've still got the fiat coupe and will probably scrap the 155 maria. i cant see me getting the time to put it back on the road. so i may (probably wont) nab the engine box and electrics and throw it in the dobber. which i think would be a hoot with a bit more boom boom.

  17. got to love a wolf in sheep’s clothing. I had an ex with a smart car. Out the box it was 53BHP. previous owner had a business servicing Smart cars and took a Brabus motor which he then remapped to 103BHP. It was rapid and would give your average 2.0 turbo diesel car a bit of a fright

  18. that's what I'm thinking. i recon it wouldn't be too hard. i know of a company (Solo Italia) put the 1900jtd in to a coupe. feck knows why they didnt go all in and put the 20v jtd in but hayho. if it ever slows down it will happen.
