With that build date it can only be a Strada or SP - still get the authentication letter from Ducati though when it's yours. You can get the Chassis and Engine verified. They didn't call them SP1's back then I don't think just like World War 1 wasn't World War 1 a hundred years ago
Here are a couple of points worth noting, Frames were not used in sequential order, Chris Mayhew had a Strada with a frame No of around 043 but it was made in July 94 My SP below is No 556 and made 2 months earlier.. All SP 1's and possibly 2's were hand assembled by the race dpt, hence the title on the Ducati computer as "Ducati 916 Racing DM" Finally you probably do have a 94 bike that was imported into the UK and I've seen similar bikes made in June/July and registered on an 'M' reg because for some reason DVLA assume the you want the latest registration letter for that year. But ride it, they are so rewarding to ride and the noise is something else well done.
Hi everyone , took delivery of my 1995 916 sp2 yesterday thought you may like a look , im very happy with it Thanks to everyone who gave me advice
Stunning machine! The quickest way to see if it’s a ‘94 or ‘95 (model that is) are the lines of the white number plates on the monoposto.
I’m a bit lazy and didn’t read from the beginning. You should check the VIN via Ducati and for what it’s worth the body work ain’t gonna tell you that. You never know what’s happened it the past, the seat could be changed multiple times....
Ian’s book isn’t always reliable. Just send an email to Ducati Customer service via the website. You will get a phone call from a nice lady that will give you the details which also could be send you through email, easy. cheers
