At home a break in alarm and better doors, bars on windows are probably better, with a car parked in front of the door blocking any removal. Out and about protection is only against opportunist unequipped scuzzers, so something highly visible, light and easy to carry are the primo features.
Just go home and angle grind the chain in two, then tell them that’s how you found it on the floor where you parked up
In the other place (GS Forum) some members there swear by a pack of butter in the fridge as a theft deterrent/security device Apparently Lurpack, Flora etc doesn’t count!
Before buying a lock check out The Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube if you want to be depressed over how easy it is for someone with the smarts and tools to open practically any lock. He has a catalogue of videos on defeating many locks.
