I rigged up an auxiliary light system for doing the Milan-Taranto event this year where we had to ride through the night on 1950's Italian 175's. It consisted of two cheap chinese adventure bike spotlights (£14) and a clip to attach a de-walt Li-ion 18v 4Ah battery (£10). Lasts for over 5 hours on a single charge and I have 2 batteries. Guess if the power cuts come into play, that will be coming off the shelf.
Those Govt issue candles will come in really useful for running computers and digital door entry systems
