My uncle bought a new Allegro every 2 years from start to finish LOL , my parents had a Princess with twin Su's that just pissed petrol out over the engine , Nice  the joys of the 80's !
My Dad had a Vauxhall 14...........so obviously we were poor..... He also had a Morris 8 and an Austin 7......(that was a laugh in itself.......pouring rain, start going up a steep hill and the wipers slowed down to nil).
I'll take your wartburg and raise you a baby shit yellow Austin maxi. RXD 365L I hope you made a better bean can / toaster / fridge in the afterlife than you did a car... British leyland were living proof of the idiocy of buying a vehicle based on nationalism
Late 70s I worked in a garage as a Saturday job that sold BL. I said to the salesman once, "Don't you hate selling crap like Marinas and Princesses to people? Wouldn't you rather be selling something like a Mercedes?" "Nah!" He said. "Any git can sell a Mercedes. It takes class to sell this shit!" He enjoyed the professional challenge.
I've had 3 Hillman Imp's, 1 runner and the other 2 to keep it going, but I did "hot" it up tho', could do 120mph on a long enough road, was like driving a glass house, mega fun
I can beat that, how about a Bubble Car..... And to the OP, I would buy the dealer rather than the car, cant think there are many bad small cars around now
Common sense should be kept at least eight words away from British leyland. It's simply staggering people kept buying such utter dross - there is simply no valid reason to buy anything they, or Austin rover made. I mean, come on, what sort if thought process led to someone walking past the Honda accord, Nissan bluebird, and even Vauxhall cavalier to buy a montego... It's unfathomable
my dad used to love his Morris Marina, it was a 1.3 and took us to Italy and back for over 12 years - that's 12 separate journeys, not that it took 12 years! - I was but a nipper and used to knock the reclining seat back and pretend it was a spaceship! (yea I know) He traded it in for an FSO Polonez... something he deeply regretted, seduced by the four and a half grand asking price for a new 125p estate. We never went to Italy by car again. I've still got that FSO.
I will when I get back to blighty, I keep meaning to ring DVLA and find out how many there are left. Still on its original stomil tyres - must change those things when I get it running again
I have one that can't make it's mind up if it is Japanese or Chinese...............Hyundai...........f-in orrible. AL
