The fact an fso was seen as a replacement shows how bad they were. No Mercedes owner ever thought "mmmmm, a nice polonez, that's what I'll have next" My aunt and uncle had a skoda super Estel when dad had the maxi, I always thought the skoda looked much nicer than our wonky old maxi I would suggest bl cars were not significantly better than eastern bloc offerings.
