Car Insurance

  1. The increase is to cover the losses on Range Rover thefts

  2. Indeed. Our policy renewed October last year. At the time the renewal quote came in, I was running a seat Leon ST FR Sport 2.0, Mrs GG a Seat Ibiza Xcellence Lux 1.0. The quote came in at £413 per car despite fairly similar driving records, which was the first shock; mine was actually cheaper by a few pennies. o_O

At the time of renewal I changed mine from the Leon to a Cupra Ateca 2.0; same output as the Leon, £40k replacement as opposed to the £15k trade in value of the Leon. This resulted in a £90 reduction in the price of my policy; second shock, especially in light of the quotes from other companies which were a substantial jump over my renewal quote on the Leon. :astonished:

On Saturday, Mrs GG will part ex her Ibiza for a Seat Arona Xperience Lux 1.0; same output as the Ibiza, £29k replacement as opposed to the £14k trade in value of the Ibiza, and the insurance app tells me that about halfway through the term they will be refunding us £60; shock number 3.

If anyone has any idea as to how this works or makes any sense please explain it to me. :upyeah:

  3. Absolutely no idea how that works, my car insurance is less this year, the bike is about the same, no idea on the van, don't try and apply logic

  4. Such lying scumbags...

I just got my Mini renewal and an attached explanation about why the premiums have all gone up -theft, repair bills blah blah. Annual premium renewal up 60%

On Confused.com, they offer me the same policy, same company and give me £250 free excess coverage, £20 voucher for Shell diesel for £220 less.

I rang the company and told them this. The agent immediately reduced their renewal price by £282, which is about half the total of what they were asking.

Its just a racket, and everyone who has read the papers/ watched the news and been told "the renewals sadly have to increase" probably think its true and cough up. I wouldn't be at all surprised to find GB News and the Daily Mail etc are being paid to trot out these lies.

There are no products that are immediately halved in price when the customer made a phone call -except insurance!

  5. Renewal time for the Aston and by cutting the mileage cover from 5k to 4k I've been quoted £123 less than last year which seems like the way to go as I expect to be well within the limit.Still got to get the tracker renewed as part of the terms but makes a change to cut the cost for a change.
