The swing arm pivot on a 999 has the alloy fitment on the bolt to offer adjustability of the swing arm angle.
Which, as you know, is completely useless unless you have an engine with the elongated mounting hole. There may have been a very few 999R engines like that, but as far as I know, it's really only the RS cases that have that. And even then, not all the RS cases have it either.
Ahh, bit of info blindness. He has been checking engines with the bearings in for pivot shaft. Wonder If sbk engines are 100mm? Scrub that..just read birdies post..
firstly, thaks for all your help and input. Secondly a massive apology. You know the old analogy of measure twice and cut once. Bring that to the forum and I should measure twice before posting. I got the measurements the wrong way around . I had measured the mounts from a 998 engine from an S4R and also a 1000DS, and realised these were 5mm different from the frame. I had assumed that all Ducati engines would be the same!!! I am an accountant not an engineer! The good news is that from advice received on this forum any of the 916 to 1098 engines should fit. i will try to keep the schoolboy errors to a minimum in future.
It would be best suited with all the fancy parts to do it properly. 1198 hi comp engine..R cams 1198 tb and airbox BSD gearbox Full ti exh Kevlar fuel tank Adj offset pani yokes Ohlins FG pani forks Posh Brembos BST carbon wheels BST carbon swingarm Ohlins ttx gp shock Carbon bodywork Bespoke loom Microtec ECU AIM dash Ti bolts What a good project
