Cars .. :(

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by He11cat, Aug 8, 2013.

  1. I bought a Mk IV Golf TD back in 1995. Give it to my wife in 2002, who then sold it on to her brother in 2004. He then sold it to his other brother. Finally left the family in 2006. I've seen it about and apart from a ding in the door done by second brother-in-law it was peachy and never once broke down even at 119K miles. Wouldn't hesitate recommending a VW Golf and would buy one myself if i was ever in the market for a small car.

  2. You'll find most VW Golf owners anally retentive when it comes to servicing and looking after their cars.

  3. 119,000 is nothing these days, my 2005 E91 325i touring is on 115,000 and drives like a car with 50,000 miles of the clock, my parents E36 328i touring has done 285,000 miles and is still going strong.

  4. Cant go far wrong with a VW, I had a V5 Bora (Golf with a boot) as a company car years ago and, yes, it is a thirsty blighter, but the engine is really smooth and a lot of fun. If you're not doing massive mileage then no big deal?

Great value at that price, if its in good nick?

    Have fun!

  5. You have no petrol!

  6. The petrol gauge kicks in when you turn the ignition key :) I have half a tank :)
    Not for long !

It's in very good nick for a ten year old
Couple of teeny dings but that's it.

  7. You TOWIE tart, I think you have an fantastic little car there. Glad you didnt go for that awful PT. IMHO
ps, its only just run in, plenty of mileage left in it :upyeah:

  8. You pays your money and you takes your choice (or is it the other way round?). In either case, you have, so happy motoring!

    .
my old car is seriously car heaven material .
Drove my old Astra to Bedford and fuel consumption was horrific
Drove this grunty little green meanie for 100 miles and it less in this V5 !!
    my Astra was a 1.4 !!!!!

Its touch wood such a great car to drive .
    smooth and on rails :)

Cars are not my thang unless its a big old yank tank or a proper old Landy.
The engine on the green meanie sounds great
oh yes got twi unmarked Police cars with blues and two today !!
    I though oh joy!
lucky for me for a car 2 in front!

I am nuts about old air cooled VWs
Used to shudder at my Dubs mechanic who told me dump the bug and buy a nice little Golf!
    I did not want a Golf !!
But it's growing on me .
tiny car , built like a tank doors weigh a tonn!
After over 2 hour drive .
For a car it's pretty ok.
id love to let a doubter take if for a spin.
