Hi Weather "up dates" needed for this ??? Northamptonshire, my start point ( North east of venue ,40 miles ish ) 10.18 am Heavy Drizzle Mmmmm! not looking good. disappointing.
not going now chaps weather crap cant see it getting any better, those who do go hope you have a good time and ride safe.
Snap, may pop over in the car later as I have some errands to do but front tyre is close to limit in the middle (no biggies) but just off centre to the edge like a supercorsa (is that will waving too ) so wont clear much water than well and I refuse to ride at a snails pace. These Pr4s are almost as good in the wet as the dry
Got to Cassington, but it was raining and drizzling most of the time as per the forecasts. As a result not many turned up - about a quarter of last year's. Unfortunately the Red Lion at Cassington is not a very good pub, except for the back garden. So my mate Tim and I went a couple of miles to the far superior George and Dragon at Long Hanborough, where we had an excellent lunch well served with all the trimmings. I didn't think there was anywhere left nowadays which still imagined that it was acceptable to put a spoonful of instant muck in a cup and sell it as "coffee" - but I was wrong, the Red Lion evidently does.
In fact it was far less than a quarter of last years total Less than 5% but unfortunatly I can't control the weather. What was there was the quality both in bikes and people. Thak you for those who turned up. Pete 1950. The Red Lion is just a Village pub that happens to be 'Bike Friendly' The George & Dragon is an eating house. Imagine trying to get them to host an event for hundreds of bikes. Geoff Ives (Stanforth) Italian Day Organiser
Ah but at least you didn't have to wait for 5 minutes while some snotty nosed oik sorry baristar pisses about with skinny latte grande with chocolate powder in the outline of a penis when all you want is a cup of coffee.
Went to a MAG rally years ago at the White Hart at Witney. It rained all weekend. The silly games were cancelled and everyone spent all weekend in the pub. They didn't serve coffee, they served Newky Brown, fried breakfasts and heavy metal and everyone got massively pissed. It was brilliant. Just googled the place. Looks like its really gone down hill since. The Red Lion sounds more like it.
No! Assumed they would be out front on the green like at Cassington bike night. Spotted the empty coned off area and thought it had been cancelled. Did many turn up.
Perhaps they turned up but rode away again without coming into the pub garden! As mentioned in this thread, the number and variety of bikes was far less than last year, no doubt on account of the iffy weather. But there were still several interesting ones.
There was a sign directing 'ITALIAN BIKES' round the back just like last year, in fact it was the same sign. The coned off area was for BMRCO members arriving on non Italian machines.
