Unwrapping complete... All that, wheels, frame, swing arm came to 280 all in and the wheels were lacquered also.. Reckon that was great value..
Over but as suspected but, not by much...having said that as i said were still going to rescue the old engine and do the same as the rest of the bike, split it, get a second hand crank, go to BSL for the mains, coat the cases, head and barrel etc etc and rebuild, put back in the bike and then sell the one we got today. I reckon we'll need another 30 quid or so for stainless fixings maybe more if we go for the big engine bolts and do them in stainless also... There wont be another commuter like it....this thing should be impervious to the elments for a long while... Ive had a few bits on my z1000 recoated which have lasted 5 years, and, even then they werent that bad (just my OCD kicking in!)
Yeah - itll be a shame to put that filthy dirty engine in our new baby!....although ill be giving it a good dose of Sdoc100 tomorrow...neat.
He’s going to have a cracking bike for the money you’ve finished. I reckon he’s luck to have you as a work colleague, hope he appreciates it. Maybe one day in the years ahead he’ll pay it back to someone else.
I hope so too. I did say that what we're doing and the way we're doing it can pretty well be applied to any bike....as i say the engine is a little ratty but we can remedy that with the old engine once its been re-conned, then its just paneling after that then it should look, literally like new...
Prep work commences... Front wheel reassembled... Had some spare ti bolts... Missing one so he'll have to get that one!
New bearing cups in... That will conclude today's work as I need to take at look at the clutch on the hyper... Plus there not really much more I can do as the swingarm and lower yoke aren't ready yet... Kinda critical for starting the build..
Nice work. I'm loving how your last thread was "I've no room in my garage" and yet you've manged to completely strip a bike in there!
I think you could do with some cable tidies mate? I do hope that’s in the garage? SWMBO would do her nut if that were our tv etc in the living room.
Yeah - i dont....i have to get 3 of them out to do anything, plus all the bodywork and plastics are out in the back garden on the patio covered over with his bike cover...
