Cheap Custom Made Leathers From The Internet

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by pingping010101, May 5, 2014.

  1. I've got an old set of Frank Thomas(?) 1 piece for racing (and exstensively crash-tested them), made of solid cow so far as I can tell. However, I would reccomend Held as they have been tested into the wall at Greeba Castle at the TT and the tester got away with a few broken bones.

  2. Someone posted a link to Gimoto made to measure stuff. Looked quite nice and reasonable too. I generally despair at some of the designs leathers come in but these are actually quite tasteful. Probably coz its italian. Gimoto

  3. I got a set of leathers made to measure by Scott Leathers. Bloody fantastic. Perfect fit apart from neck which they altered no problem and no more money. I can't recommend them highly enough, makes me smile every time I put them on, especially if I'm going out on my bike! All this and cheaper than an off the peg set which would never fit me right. I drew what I wanted and supplied pics as reference, they made it exactly right, Ducati lettering down the arms etc. the full works. Unbelievable. I had to wait a bit but that's the way it goes if you want good stuff.
They're in Barnard Castle but they do have stands at the big shows, it's worth getting Jim (who I believe owns the company) to measure you. I'm putting this post on here because I'm that happy with the result.
Can't think why anyone would consider an off the peg set when you can get this. Pics if you want them

Have you ever tried them yourself?

  6. yes mate I have tried to rip me of £1000 a few years ago , got me cash back in the end after 3 tries to make a suit, then sell it to some one else, was even told this off a member of his staff ,took several visits and one final visit to get me money back fkin waste of space and im not the only one, he was dissolved again last year try looking at company house search , he was bust again 3 years previous as well, ccj against him ,,, hes still even advertising under scott international 2006 , that went bust 2010 company house, totally illegal, you want proper made to measure go to am leathers totally different person and league ,

  8. You really are lucky Sam. I rode to scott leathers twice to get fitted after chatting with Jimbob. 370 odd miles round trip for me each time. Second time was at their insistence. They were an utter waste of space. I couldn't even get a rough price out of them let alone just a ball park delivery date. The correct quarter would have done as would an estimate. In fact, before I knowing what I know now, I told them to proceed off an estimate (which it transpires they couldn't give) and firm up the price at a later date. Nothing difficult, just a measured suit.

They were as good as gold when I got there - they took hrs to measure me in person and come up with a simple design so the non replies etc and all the rest of it belied the time they spent with me.

The process was an absolute waste of 2 days for me which is what I was most annoyed about.

I couldn't get to AM in any reasonable time after that so had to opt for an off the peg suit which fits better than any other I've tried.

  9. Well.... sorry to hear that guys. That's what these forums are about I guess, to get a more rounded picture. It would be interesting to hear about more peoples experience but they did make me a very nice two piece set of leathers. I can understand your point of view though.
