Cheap Custom Made Leathers From The Internet

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by pingping010101, May 5, 2014.

  1. I won't risk it to be honest, I'll just wear them for prancing around on my bike and I'll wear the cheaper but better suit if I want to go faster.

  2. Oh well. Lesson learned. Clown suits are made by clowns.

  4. I would be sending them straight back. Leathers are there for protection first, style second. If you're wearing them for looks even though you have no faith in them, you've got it the wrong way round.

  5. I'm sort of encouraged by all this. The Orient is full of fake brands and products - items that look like the real deal superficially but aren't made to the same specifications and cost a fraction of the price.
This suit sounds like the leathers equivalent of a fake Vuitton bag although let's be fair and say that no brand names have been forged.

So yes, it does look as if you get what you pay for and that's comforting.

  6. Buy a MZ, paint it red and put a Ducati sticker on tank. Same principle. You wouldnt buy a fake ducati would you.

I would buy a proper Dainese VR46 suit if I could find one too, so I understand Tom doing what he did as they are rare as rocking horse shit. I also tried to buy the axial pro 'in' boots in Giallo but had to settle for white as they are hard to find too.

I wouldnt buy a cheap fake suit though. They are easy to spot and where my safety is concerned no expense is spared. Fashion comes second to my protection. A good suit, although expensive, will last years. A fake suit, although cheap, will fall apart in days and make you look silly as a fake suit looks wrong.

  7. Fit those leathers to a brush shaft and put in the nearest barley field, scare off the crows.

  8. Tom I don't care what the others say mate, I think you look fab, and even though your bike isn't Italian it does look bloody good, was the pic taken at the local bikers meet, or in town on a Saturday? Tell me is it a daylight MOT and do you get away without a stop light

  9. Are those leathers designed to go over boots? I noticed you had them over boots but didn't have boots that work with that style (as you can see from the genuine Rossi picture you need Dainese boots for this). I am being 100% honest when I say that they are at least 2 sizes too big, if not more, but interestingly your shoulders don't look as far out.

Honestly on a well fitted suit at £500 or above (and yes you can get a suit that fits for less than that actually) they should be absolutely welded to you when new, because they give (up to 10%). Ever time you move a joint like your knee, you should see the stretch panel moving, and if your crouched (as if on the bike) you should be using 75% of the stretch of the rear panel so that the upper shoulder area is still maintaining it's fit and not restricting movement.

I can see from the pictures that it 'looks' like they have a flat seem in the arse, but actually it's not 'Triple Flat Stitched' which is what you would probably get in such a vital place on a good quality suit. T-F-S is basically where they but the leather together with some form of glue line and then triple stitch it so that there isn't a 'lip' on the leather. In the even of an accident the 'Lip' often picks up and opens the suit up.

Hopefully you find a solution that works, suit fitting was the hardest thing in the world when I was in the bike shop, but one suggestion is to go to a 'GOOD' shop and try stuff on, for your build I would think you would fit really well in some of the 'Italian' cut stuff, European stuff like IXS, RST, BKS is often made for people with bigger thighs etc. I couldn't ever get my legs in a Spidi suit...

They're definitely not a good fit. I'll maybe get them re-tailored in the future. After an abrasive resistance test!

  11. If youre not happy with them, why don't you send them back? Do you not think you will get a refund?

  12. No ,I do not think that I will get a refund. To be honest, I was aware that they were likely to be shoddy when I ordered them, so it's not a surprise. It is a definite answer though, so still satisfying in some respects.

I might list them on eBay with an honest description and see if there are any takers.

  13. I would do as others have suggested and send them back. Did you pay via PayPal ?
I remember spyke first coming into this country as I worked for J&S as a kid. They are/were formed off the back of dainese being two former employes and the quality was/is top notch.
If you are short legged long torso as I am, french stuff is brill I wear furygan and helstons

  14. Took too long to post. Ask you will either get a yes or no

  15. Long odds on that gamble then. Worth an ask for your money back IMHO. If you did it via Paypal you could always go down the dispute route. If I'd spent £550 on them I'd be gutted and spitting feathers

  16. Let me see now:
I expect these leathers to be poor and not worth the £500 they are going to cost me.
Oh, sod it. Let's spend £500 and find out.

    You're considerably richer than me.
