  2. advrider.com has a superb master list, always updated, of ALL types of motorcycle clothing that is CE approved including explanations of the many standards of CE; glove, boot, jacket, trousers etc. It's a long thread in 'clothing - equipment' but very very good. CE is a base that is quite low and some manufacturers play fast and loose with what actually has passed and as to what they believe WILL PASS if tested!! Some big names play this game.
I'm extremely lucky and skint, to have a Made to Measure BKS 2 piece leather suit (not the Chinese BKS off peg crap). My friend went the Rukka ArmaS route; for the same price as my BKS suit. Check out the German mag test via the above advrider thread, showing a dummy falling off a bike wearing Rukka. Ouch ouch ouch.
Also have a Crowtree one piece that is 1992 vintage. Again made to measure; still fits and has been race tested on more than one occasion by a crash test dummy (cheers Ja). If you can save up/afford the best then get it. Skin grafts are very very unpleasant.
BKS, Hideout, Crowtree (if he hasn't retired again!) and some off peg stuff is brill. Do your research and don't be an organ bank for someone else :upyeah:

  8. Can't fault the BKS stuff. My jacket zip burst after a year (no weight gain by me), they sent courier to pick up jacket and got it back a few weeks later with new zip. All FOC.

  9. I tried on the rst full suit, just didn't fit, you just need to be thin and tall I think.

At 399 cheap but felt to be well made.

  10. I have an RST Evo suit. Fits me well, and for £399 it's a steal. Much more comfortable than my 2-piece leathers, which I rarely wear any more. But I am 6'1" and slim (85kgs ish).

  11. J&S are clearing the moto gp branded kangeroo skin siits for £299, that is a bargain! Considered buying a set and giving it to a leather taylor to adjust at that money

  12. 'What's that Skip? J&S are selling your brothers and sisters off cheap, Streuth'!!!!

  15. I've had a held Slade suit priced up this week. Standard Slade suit, made to measure with slight mod so that they fit over dainese pro in boots and the integral back protector removed (I'll use the forcefield).

Price for this is £1660 - £760 over the standard off the shelf - £860 if you shop around and drive a bargain. I was a bit taken aback to be fair as I'd originally told it would be £1,200 as a guide.

  16. Ridiculous money imho.

  17. When dainese for example charge approx £400 max extra over for any given made to measure suit I was a bit taken aback to be fair - particularly given the integral back protector on the Held Slade suit was to be removed.

  18. can you get a dainese suit made with your own design ? if so where do you start at ?

  19. Erm, no idea I'm afraid. As far as I've explored, the made to measure options take a standard suit in the standard colour options and merely measure up to suit you. It's typically about £400 more than the off the peg suit in any given range you choose. No-one has ever suggested to me colour changes and so on - not to say it's not available of course.

The held stuff right enough you can pick your own colours (whether standard or not) within that suit's pattern ranges and change the sliders, and the cut and add your name and so on.

As an aside, in February of this year and then again in may I dealt with Scott Leathers - travelling down to Barnard Castle. They spent a total probably of three hours measuring me up Etc and going through kinds of protection on offer. Since early May I cannot even get a price out of them nevermind a date upon which I might be able to get the actual suit. They've never once return telephone call. The Complete lack of helpfulness since belies the time they spent with me in person. I can't even get them to take any money off me.
