i have seen an infinite number of motorbike crash victims all wearing a multitude of different branded and unbranded leather as well as ordinary clothing.....With road riding its generally the bump at the end that does the damage and injuries, the bump that is to a lesser extent on a track. People die on the road wearing a giant crate of metal so i guess it doesn't really matter too much what you wear its going to hurt.......of course on a track you tend to slide more within the available space so what clothing and its resistance to the mue becomes important. getting a CE approval costs an awful lot of money which is why somewhere like dainese get their armour CE approved but not the variants of fashion leather around them ... these still look cheap imitation tat and a job for the fashion police.......
I went to Silvermachine in Wolverhampton last year looking for a 1 piece and got chatting to them, apparently you can change all sorts on the suits, colours/designs etc. They said it does have to go through the Dainese R&D department though to be scrutinised and there are bits they won't let you change. Pretty certain the Dainese logos are a no go and it needs to be tasteful I think....pretty sure that clown suit would be frowned upon. Might be worth chatting to them if you are looking that way and see what can be done.
1976dc think your getting ripped a bit , my held slide made to measure was 1300 fitted me at 22st so fair bit extra leather than most lol , graphics on back , arse , bothe legs and left snd right pecs , 3 colours . I need to check think the price included made to measure gloves also .
Scott leathers i hear so many negative feedback off people try a and m leathers in Barnard castle he is Great bloke and excellent quality . Well worth a look
I got measured up by city of leather Spose cheap .. Trousers were ok not brilliant fit . ( now way to big) The jacket I returned 3 times it was total crap and didn't fit. Zips broke on trousers . Really dreadful quality would never use them ever again !!!
Infinity has this on their site... Dainese D-Air Suit | Dainese Clothing | Infinity Motorcycles Now I appreciate that this is for the D-Air suit but I'm pretty sure the same applies to all their suits. as mentioned before not loads extra for the custom features.
was looking at and chatting with the PSI people recently (they are based in Czech) their made to measure leathers are really amazing quality. they will alter any other mfgs off the shelf stuff to fit too they start from 650 euros and up to about 12-1300 Simon Crafar/Moto Vudu use PSI, as do lots of racers and trackday riders based on the continent The dianese race stuff the top riders wear is amazing, the stuff we all get is ok but poorly finished imho furygans quality , particularly the leather itself is pretty special too
I've always been very happy with Dainese stuff. In what way is it poorly finished? It's extremely well cut and tends to be full of innovation.
dont get me wrong the dianese stuff is good but i think there is better stuff for the money i have 2 sets of dianese leathers and while the critical leather panel stitching is all excellent, the liners, zips & cuffs behind the zips and collar are a bit sloppily finished which results in the liners pulling and getting damaged and me getting neck rashes due the stitching there. they also have a tendancy to use cheap belly leather in the less critical bits (like the flaps behind the zips) which after alot of use get raggedy and tear my old arlenness 450 quid leathers were better made than the Ducati Corse leathers is have which were originally 1300 euro (not that i paid anywhere near that)
Fair enough. I'm still waiting for Dainese to produce a two-piece which has the same cut and mobility as a one-piece. The one-piece is just way better for riding the bike (if you like to hang off and shuffle around on the seat) but for a weekend or a holiday away it's just not really practical. I did visit Dachau concentration camp in my one-piece on a fairly toasty day. Not really the right attire for museum visits. I also have a two-piece (the Fluid) which can accept a small(er) back protector in the jacket lining (zip compartment) but the more recent Flanker suit won't, which is just annoying. You don't really want to go touring with a separate back protector if you can avoid it. You already have to tote around helmet and gloves when you arrive somewhere without having to deal with a separate back protector.
I've had a o Dainese two piece for years and other than the zip tags snapping its been great, really good quality etc. however if I go back to trackday zip disasters every set that I've seen explode the zip has been Dainese.
Dainese, Furygan, Kushitani. I would not bother with any other manufacturer personally as these suit my tastes. Currently I wear Dainese and its all good quality kit. Previously wore Furygan and its good quality and very hard wearing as I know having slid them down the road on several occassions. Kushitani because its like wearing velvet. Supple leather. Style is important to me so it must look good and protect me at the same time.
