While staying in Nanjing for three days, went to the Nanjing massacre museum one afternoon with a mate as I have been there the last time a decade ago, very intense display... The tomb-like exhibition hall, half underground, contains items related to the massacre, including an immense collection of pictures, objects, charts, and photographs. Paintings, sculptures, illuminated display cabinets, multimedia screens and documentary films serve to demonstrate to visitors the crimes committed by the Japanese military. Heading out of the big city called Shanghai to Qinglong Temple in Qingpu district, a rather large suburb of Shanghai.
After the Qinpu district Qinglong temple stop, making my way over to Yancheng Lake in Jiangsu province. Hairy Crab season is full on this time of the year around greater Shanghai region and Yancheng Lake near Suzhou / Kunshan (Jiangsu province) has the authentic Hairy Crabs, the best of the crawlies apparently. Hairy Crabs for shipment to outlaying areas and yes ~ they ship them live to Hong Kong, Singapore, etc. as well....
I remember seeing packets of those crabs for sale (live?)at the Duty free shop at Shanghai airport, I didn't buy any as I didn't fancy the conversation I would have had to have with customs back in the UK!
Autumn bike ride from Shanghai over to Hangzhou (Zhejiang Province) along the Grand Canal waterway system, the Dalian Lake wetlands promoting environmental improvements and education. Route = National Road #320 Shanghai - Xitang - Jiaxing - Hangzhou. Recycling along National Road #320 near Xitang Watertown (Zhejiang), recycling of all sorts (paper, glass, metal, etc.) is quite a big business in China... Hold your breath while passing the fibreglass plant beside the National road #320, a city itself, massive and huge processing factory....
