Ask I ask for it, we did some extra inspection work during the first full Desmo service to be on the safe side of things. Easy to check into certain measurements and parts / engine wear not required by the manual once the bike is stripped of the fairings / bodywork and up on a bike lift with all the special tools needed easily available.... well ~ thats my personal way of doing things with motor vehicles for decades ~ yours may vary...
I absoulutely see your point, I am like that me self. That's why I am glad I work on my own stuff. It is just that (as you obviously know) the cam's do not need to come out for a normal shim clearence check. And as a proffesional mechanic, I know that most owner's do not want to pay the extra time needed for getting things outside the recomended service check list made by Ducati, done. Keep up the riding and give us fantastic Ducati pictures from the country on the other side of the planet (I'm from Norway)

Lunch meeting over in Suzhou / Jiangsu (Jinji Lake - Suzhou Singapore Industrial Park) and took the MTS for a run over. Time of the year again for farmers to sell watermelons and they looked good pretty good to the eye ~ not like the ones sold of trucks injected with red die and sugar water to add weight and enhance the sweetness..... Shows how much I really love my Ducati Multistrada 1200S Pikes Peak, brilliant Italian bike.....
Fantastic extensive picture diary of biking life in China, thank you. During your travels have you ever been questioned/prevented from taking pictures by officialdom?
Well - time came around again to head up to the northern part of Mainland China. The wooden transport pallet got modified a bit and makes bike shipment even easier using CargoBuckles tohold the front wheel in place, for the rear the trusty Pitbull Trailer Restraint mounted as usual. All the riding equipment, spare parts, tyres and tools got shipped from Shanghai to Beijing on thetruck with the bike as the Shanghai - Beijing ride is rather dull and boring and did that stretch too many times in the past. Really looking forward to get out again riding into the Northern dustydeserts, mountain ranges and grasslands of China and got a few runs planned and mapped out. Every corner tells a different story, there's nothing like the exhilaration of a relaxed bike ride, whether it's up the mountains, into the grasslands or even down some dirty trails ~ lets rock n'roll around Northern China....

The Chinese Aviation Museum (located 40km North of central Beijing), is also sometimes referred to as Datangshan due to its location adjacent to the mountain of the samename. The museum was first opened to the public on 11 November 1989, to celebrate the 40th. Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Liberation Army Air Force. Part of the museum is located inside a cave in the side of Datangshan Mountain. The cavern was originally part of the tunnels and underground bunker system of ShaheAirbase, and is 586 metres long by 11 metres high by 40 metres wide. The road leading to the museum is actually also used as a taxiway between the base and bunker system.
A lovely day out around Beijing, taking my pedal powered two wheeled mode of transportation as the motorbike friendly Beijing Municipality Traffic Management Bureau http://www.bjjtgl.gov.cn launched a new campaign and enforces restrictions to use motorbikes within the 6th. ring-road of Capital City Beijing once again. TIC = This Is China and just to complicated to explain the new restrictions in full details (fines and penalty points on driving license), enjoy the pictures as they come and the new rules and regulations not going to ruin my days in Capital City thats for sure... Very easy and convenient to get around Beijing by bicycle ~ through the small back alleyways, great ADVriding in a different way..... Neighbourhood not far from Tianamen Square and Forbidden City. Liulichang is a famous district in down-town Beijing that is known for a series of traditional Chinese stone dwellings housing selling various craftwork, artistry, and antiques. It is one of Beijing's traditional old quarters…..
Next Beijing Day Out by bicycle stop = Temple of Heaven, literally the Altar of Heaven is a complex of religious buildings situated in the southeastern part of central Beijing. The complex was visited by the Emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties for annual ceremonies of prayer to Heaven for good harvest. It has been regarded as a Daoist temple, although Chinese heaven worship, especially by the reigning monarch of the day, predates Daoism.....Temple of Heaven - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
