999 Chinese Levers...?

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by yellowducmaniac, Nov 27, 2014.

  1. The sun in the lens bit shouldn't be a major problem, mounting the camera where it is shrouded from the sun should pretty much solve that problem. It's finding somewhere to mount the screen that worries me more.
Could you tell if it was a cop-car behind or not???

  2. I have a camera on my monster 900 and never had issues with sun as I have a darkened lens.

Saying that even if I did if there is strong sun it will also f-up the mirror view or worse as it happens on my commuter sun reflects in my face!!

  3. Is the image good enough to identify a following cop-car????

  4. will someone answere the most important question here !!! ( although , Old Rider, by the time you have clocked them it will prob be too late !! )

  5. On a fine day yes if they have blues on but as TT said to late.

Funny thing that did happen is I was backing up not looking to the back but rather down on dash and I suddenly seen coper kneeling down looking in to my camera got spooked as hell.

He started chatting, had a look at the screen and said I was thinking it must be a rear view camera so thought it would be funny to suddenly appear in your field of view.

Fuck funny first thought was of what did I do wrong now?!

  6. I just like to know if the car following is a cop car or not before I do something silly...

  7. Absolutely agree, the speed and handling of our bikes can easily persuade the devil perched on one shoulder to tell the angel perched on the other to f@ck off when it comes to being sensible....:D

  9. Been looking through fleebay, anyone give me a seller who sells stubby levers?

preferably ones that wont melt :)

  10. Ebay seller 'the2wheels'

Going back a few years ago I had a set on my Bandit a few mates bought them the same time, the quality was fab easily as good as Titax but at a fraction of the cost! We heard the horror stories but at least 4 years have now past and my mate still has a pair on his bandit and they still look great and function perfectly.

Shipping was quick, each lever was sent in a protective pouch and bubble wrapped and inserted into a decent box.

I'd have no issues buying from them again personally, the only real issue is are you likley to get pissed at the barrage of opinions from fellow bikers at your local bike haunt when they point out about Chinese levers and the horror stories. At first I couldn't care less but eventually it did take the shine of having them.

  11. +1

I have them on my 999s: quality / finish is excellent.

  12. Lucazade, any pics of your camera & screen set up...? Interested to see as I have one on an old Fireblade...

Oh, to keep on the same thread - I have some cheapo Chinese levers on my 999 too (as the original ones looked like they had been in the sea) which just about work on maximum adjustment. Which for the money is fine as I don't want to keep arsing around with them anyway...
    Cheers,
    DD

  13. Those are actually 'shorties'.
I ordered a pair of Chinese levers levers, thinking I'd ordered shorties but when they arrived, I was disappointed to find they were the longer ones.
However, my disappointment was short-lived as when I came to fit them, they looked just right - much more elegant and stylish than the Brembo ones but long enough to use with either two or four fingers.

  14. Could you provide me with a link to the ones u currently have?

I don't want shorties, i use clutch with 4 fingers and brake with 1 or 2. So longer ones but not as long as the stock ones would be ideal for me.
