1200 DVT Chopped It In

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by tobers, Apr 26, 2018.

  1. Was only taking the P--s The MT10 is a stonker of a bike. Only reason i didn,t get one last year was because there was a back order. With the right ex system they are the dogs chobblies.

  2. Been on the MT-10 for a few hours today. Still running in, but it is already amazing. Wow. Love it. It’s like a smaller Multistrada - fairly comfy (not as comfy), relatively practical (not as practical), but yet it behaves like a Multi with a rocket up its arse. On the downside, I’m finding fittings that are lower rent and will surely look furry in a year (but cheap to replace), and it does drink motion lotion. I reckon though that it could fit another couple of litres in the tank if the daft filler neck had a vent hole in it - that’s my next job. Pass the drill Jeeves.

  4. You may have been taking the piss but when you do that in one breath, and in the next, show off about your FE in storage and V4 with red wheels you sound like a bit of a bellend ;)

  5. I'd considered an MT-10 too, not initially keen but the looks have grown on me. So yesterday was test ride day and it's awesome, a cracking engine, comfortable and fast.
Japanese so I'd be expecting reliability too.
Only downside was the dealer didn't offer me what I wanted for the '16 Tuono Factory. Not dismissing it, but next to try the new Speed Triple RS, and Monster R. Pity but not got a local KTM dealer

  6. How come you want to trade the Tuono?

  7. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, I love it. Thing is though there's just so many decent bikes out there and I fancy a change.

  8. Corrected Jimmy o_O

  9. How come you want to trade the Tuono?

I have read on a Tuono forum that some of the guys are checking valve clearances as early as 3000 miles on new engines , and some don't want the hassle of the cams and valves that go with that dynamic engine .

  10. Yes. V4 servicing costs are never going to be cheap. If V2 Ducatis cost a grand every time they get a sniff of a workshop image what the V4 is going to cost.

  11. Twice as much :)

  12. What about P&H in Crawley? Think they still do KTMs, although as a large multi-franchise dealer, their servicing may be formal and impersonal...
Nice run down from Guildford... A281, A23 or A25/A25 through Newdigate, Charlwood...

  14. That is true - they still do KTMs, and I bought my Multi from them. I'm probably just being picky but I have 2 Yam dealers nearby, one in Woking and one in Farnborough.

  15. Callled then to ask about a demo and they never rang back. KTM Hemel are a nice bunch so I don’t mind the ride.

  16. Loads of bikes are ugly, the likes of the Multi's and Superdukes of this world have never been accused of being beautiful, doesn't mean they don't have a presence to them!
Brutish looks suit something like a super naked and I reckon the MT10's looks suit it's character very well!

I've seen some very nice MT10's but they look their best with a hefty sprinkling of aftermarket bling, which lets face it, most of us do to any bike anyway...

Some nice carbon/CNC fittings, those carbon wheels and an exhaust fit for that cross plane engine and it will be a stunner!

  17. I hope I'm not alone, but I think the Multi is gorgeous and getting better looking, so far, with each new model.
Infinitely better looking than a KTM, BMW XR or GS and defo better looking than an MT but looks are subjective, there are even some people who like the looks of a Harly :(

  20. I'll be careful what I say here because criticising any aspect of a Multi in these parts is a dangerous game :eyes:

I'll concede some of them aren't bad looking for an ADV bike but they aren't 'pretty.' Especially the newer snub nose look. I doubt any will be remembered for their looks or kept in living rooms as ornaments, like the 916 etc... Comes with the territory though, looks aren't the goal.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder however. The 2010-14 Multi S is my personal fave, closely followed by the new Enduro. I'm a sucker for Gold forks and the Enduro looks the part more, especially in that khaki green/sand colour.

I applaud Yamaha for the MT-10 though. The styling is a bold move and you won't mistake it for any other bike.
