  1. Without reading the whole thread so apologise if already covered, what's the thoughts on TR6's?

  2. My 65 split is a California import! Orange County Infact. It's an EZ camper took about 18 months to get it on the road now a rolling resto surf bus Good luck on yours, what needs doing?

  3. Great car. The engine has a lovely sound. You thinking of restoring or buying restored?

  4. My mate has his heart set one.

  5. IMO a good tr6 is a good investment. The great thing is that you buy most things for triumphs now. When I had my spitfires it was quite limited.

  6. My sister had a spitfire and left it in the garage to go to college. I used to drive it to 6TH form. Was the bizzo at 17 and everyone else had 205s and fiestas.

  7. Tuning up the carburetor mate

  10. Great car........I borrowed one for three months..........but IMO avoid the TR5....they rotted badly.

  11. I had a Spitfire......which was basically a Triumph Herald or Vitesse in disguise.....

The GT6 was a better car but all bloody dangerous IMO when you tried pushing it on a windy road........Clicking Heels springs to mind..........it occurs if you ease off the throttle in a bend......

I'v owned a number of Anglias in various states of tune including one with a Lotus twin cam fitted. I used to grass track them as well.

  16. well there you go. I think from ten till four....

  17. My first car was a MK1 XR 2, propper mint when I bought it. BHP365Y was it's reg. Was the dogs balls in 1990 @17. Sold my dad's Rickman Mattice he hand restored to buy it. I regret it now. Bloody good fun at 17 though. A tree fell on it and squished it flat with a Renault 11 turbo and Scirocco GTX. Luckily no body hurt. Miss that car. Miss the Rickman more. Don't think dad will ever totally forgive me.

  18. little bit off welding to do,the worst is the front floor that has been raised for airbag suspension and i now busy make that back stock.
then i have to build a camper interieur for it,paint it,lower it and build a 1776 engine for it.
would like to have it ready by next summer.

    henk!!!

  19. Thank you sir!

It was a pretty nice 1776 which was running a pair of 44IDFs and all of the usual bits and bobs like an alternator and electric fuel pump. Decent enough little thing, would happily pull high 15s on the 1/4 mile.

I shifted over time to the 944 as you can take it out for a good blast when you feel like it, and then to the supermarket and still be returning over 30mpg and cosy when you feel like a long trip. Sometimes miss the Beetles but still have the van for when I want to live life a bit slower ;-)

  20. How about a modern classic sleeper.
